"I Want to Know What Love Is" is a 1984 power ballad recorded by the British-American rock band Foreigner. The song hit #1 in both the UK and the U.S

"I Want to Know What Love Is" reached number one in the UK Singles Chart on 15 January 1985 and stayed there for three weeks.

It reached the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 on 2 February 1985 where it stayed for two weeks.

The Foreigner song was ranked by Billboard as the number four Hot 100 single of the year 1985.
It was the band's fourth Gold single in the U.S

In 2004 "I Want to Know What Love Is" was voted #476 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.

In 2006 this song was included on VH1's program "Top 100 Songs of the 80's" at #65.

The song was used on the 16th episode of Miami Vice in the first season, entitled "Rites of Passage" on 8 February 1985.

The song was made part of the videogame Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories soundtrack in 2006, and was the background music for the game's first trailer and intro cut scene.

In 2007, the game Sing Star '80s included the song. The song was played in a scene in Larry The Cable Guy: Health Inspector and in the "Valentine's Day" episode of the TV show Ed.

West Bengal government, chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday
Said that we have not enough income to pay the interest for the debt burden bequeathed by the erstwhile (Left Front) government




We are repeatedly urging (the central government) that we do not need its mercy, but that it should provide us at least a three-year interest moratorium. They should give us the moratorium as we are unable to pay it,"

"I will certainly not tolerate it," the chief minister warned and gave the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government 15 days to decide on the interest freeze for three years.

How much is the debt burden of West Bengal State Government?
More than the estimated Rs 2.3 lakh Crore. The state government's current annual outgo on interest payments is around Rs 2,200 Crore.

Out of 236 analyzed newly elected Councillors in Municipal Corporation for Delhi 2012 Elections, A total of 120 Councillors out of 236 analyzed i.e. 51% are crorepatis. BJP has 68 out of 121(56%) analyzed and INC has 30 out of 66(46%) crorepatis




Newly elected Councillors of BJP have average assets in excess of Rs 3.19 crores while those of INC have assets in excess of Rs 2.46 crores

Lucknow High Court Movie Dirty Picture telecast Late Night not Prime Time

One of the television channel that is Sony was showing advertisement that they will show movie Dirty Picture on 22nd April 2012 during prime hours at 12 noon, and 8 pm.




After this public interest litigation was filed by Santosh Kumar Rai.

He told to Court that the movie 'The Dirty Picture' has been granted 'A' certificate by the Censor Board of India and can be telecast only during the watershed hours in the night in terms of the programme and advertising codes prescribed under the Cable Television Network Rules, 1984

After hearing the petitioner The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad high court said following

Justice Uma Nath Singh and Justice Virendra Kumar Dixit ruled that if the information provided by the petitioner is correct and it amounts to violation of guidelines issued by the government of India through ministry of information and broadcasting as also Cable Television Network Rules, it would be appropriate for the respondents to verify the information and take necessary action to stop the violation thereof.

This means that Court ordered that adult movies can be only shown at night time.

The time has come that now government should give permission to start adult movie channels and let the customers and Indian citizens decide what they want to see in their homes.

The court has just passed the order because of Guidelines, these guide lines should be made applicable to the trailers and promos of the adult movie also.

The government needs to change and modify the guidelines and bring clarity in the guidelines.

Madhya Pradesh government has banned sale and manufacture of any food that contains tobacco in Madhya Pradesh state.




Thus MP became the first state to ban tobacco products.

The Madhya Pradesh government has cancelled the licenses of 17 gutka manufacturing units.

The state government has also confiscated tobacco worth over Rs 1 Crore, nearly 30 lakh pouches, including Khaini and Zarda.

MP FDA Ashwini Kumar, Commissioner told to media that
"Since April 1, we have seized over 30 lakh pouches - in some places being sold clandestinely - we are trying to impose the ban in those places as well – patch as long as khaini is taken through the oral route its banned,"

Ban is not the solution it will give rise to corruption.

The solution is increase in taxes.

If one pouch is sold for Rs.5 then one pouch tax should be Rs.5.

Ban will not stop the consumption but it will increase corruption and more boys and girls will start the eating Gutka as it will give them false feeling that they are more intelligent and got more money and got more power.

Few days back professor Ambikesh Mahapatra. was arrested for publishing a cartoon about west Bengal chief minister he was even beaten by 4 people.




After arrest Professor got the bail after staying one night in jail but 4 people who beat him were arrested and they got the bail immediately.

This is one of the reason goonda people do not fear the law and are not afraid to beat any citizen as they know the bail is immediate.

Suggested Reform –
If beating is on video tape and 100% proof is there, in such cases goonda people should be given punishment on the same day of arrest that is they should be sent to 10 to 100 years of jail immediately.
After that they can file appeal in higher courts.

When professor was arrested after that Indian educated and net using citizens did not like it and in protest they wrote on their twitter accounts, posted more cartoons on Facebook or their blogs.

On April 12, one of the resident of Kolkata filed a police complaint as he did not like the pictures of Mamta Banerjee.

After detecting photos on Facebook, The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the west Bengal state has written to the social networking site, asking it to remove four pictures lampooning chief Minister Mamta Banerjee.

The CID has also asked for the IP address of the computer from which the pictures were first uploaded


The CID has not asked about the Cartoon picture of CM Mamta Banerjee which was shared by professor Ambikesh Mahapatra.

According to the Commission, there was no government resolution or notification issued by the state government providing reservation of the land for the defence personnel or Kargil war heroes.

Judicial Commission appointed by the Maharashtra government has observed that the land, where the 31-storey Adarsh cooperative housing society is located, belongs to the state government and not of ministry of defence.

Judicial Commission said that ministry of defence has failed to establish its claim of title to the land in question.

However, this was not so with the claim of the Maharashtra government. "Their claim stand established in view of the provisions of section 294 of the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, 1966 which came into force on August 15, 1967 and there is no evidence to show that on that date the land in question was occupried by anybody."

Moreover, the Commission said that occupation of land by anybody has been corroborated by other factors such as admissions on the part of the ministry of defence, absence of entry in respect of the land in question in the Maharashtra Land Reveue Code and the inaction on the part of army and ministry of defence to assert their alleged right.

Commission also said that there was no reservation of defence personnel or Kargil War heroes for the land or for the membership of the Adarsh society.

Adarsh society's chief promoter RC Thakur stated that the Adarsh society was formed in 1994 and registered on September 28, 2004.

the society was proposed much prior to Kargil war and hence there was no question of this society being formed for the purpose of Kargil heroes and or the flats to be constructed would be only for Kargil heroes

Media has reported that Defense Ministry has said it will challenge the report in the Supreme Court regarding the ownership of land on which Adarsh Housing Society stands.

Now media needs to get all the affidavits and documents and should check that they are not made now and they are original made on the prior dates as mentioned.

In India anything is possible every day media reports that xyz politician submitted his education, his property information wrongfully in an affidavit.

Bombay High court gave the judgment directing the Ministry of External Affairs to allow certain private operators to operate the services of 800 of the 11,000 pilgrims earmarked under the VIP quota subsidized by the government.




After that Government filed appeal in the Supreme Court of India
challenging a Bombay High Court judgment

A bench of Justices Aftab Alam and Ranjana Prakash Desai had directed the Centre to provide details of subsidy given by it and criteria adopted for allocation of seats to state committees.

Supreme court frowned at the practice of sending official delegations to accompany the pilgrims and had asked the Centre to furnish entire details regarding Haj subsidy, as also to the criteria adopted.

Earlier, the bench had pulled up the Centre’s practice of ‘politicizing’ the annual Haj pilgrimage by permitting official delegations to accompany the pilgrims, for, which the government offers huge subsidy, saying, “It’s a bad religious practice.”

After this Government of India filed an affidavit and informed to supreme court of India that it has decided to restrict Haj pilgrimage at government subsidy to Muslims only as a ‘once in a lifetime’ affair as against the existing policy of ‘once in five years’.

In an affidavit filed before the apex court, the government said the new guidelines have been framed to ensure that priority is given to those applicants who have never performed Haj.

According to the government, priority will be given to those who are in the 70 plus category and those who had unsuccessfully applied thrice earlier for the subsidy.



Restrict the number of pilgrimages to a Haj applicant through HCOI (Haj Committee of India) to ‘once in a lifetime’ as against the existing ‘once in five years’. This will ensure that the Haji will benefit from government subsidy only once in his/her lifetime. It will also ensure that priority is given to those applicants who have never performed Haj,”

Government refrained or [did not give] from disclosing the amount of subsidy being incurred by it for 2012.

"The exact figure in respect of the travel subsidy to the pilgrims going through Haj Committee of India for 2012 will be known after the Hajis completed their Haj journey and return to India."

Why only 2012
I think government should publish Year wise the list of last 25 years mentioning the subsidy amount spend on Haj with the names of persons who took benefit of the scheme to do Haj.

Supreme Court bench of Justice Aftab Alam and Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai told to government that "You have suggested that you will reduce it to one plus nine, but we want it at one plus three or four and that should be also be discontinued in the next few years,"

Justice Alam said the visit by the goodwill delegation was started in 1967 but it became VIP quota and was not in conformity with religious duty.

The goodwill delegation that first went in 1967 had three members which peaked to 35 in 2005.

The court was told that the subsidy per Haji was Rs 38,800 in 2011 which was Rs 5,000 17 years back in 1994.

The total Haj subsidy in 2011 was Rs 685 Crore, while it was Rs 10.51 Crore in 1994.

In the current year 1, 70,000 Hajis would be going from India to Makkah. In 2011 the total number of Indian Hajis who travelled to Makkah was 1, 70,491.
