AgustaWestland scam Ex-IAF chief SP Tyagi arrested

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested former Indian Air Force (IAF) chief SP Tyagi on charges of corruption in its ongoing probe into the Rs 3,600-crore AgustaWestland helicopter deal.

CBI also arrested his cousin Sanjeev Tyagi alias Julie Tyagi and Gautam Khaitan, a Delhi-based lawyer, were also arrested.

ANI reported “All 3 arrested on the allegations of who accepted illegal gratification for exercising influence through corrupt and or illegal means,”

CBI said “Total deal amount in AgustaWestland was Rs 3767 Crore and bribe amount was 12% of main amount,”

SP Tyagi was Air Chief Marshall from 2004-2007 and allegedly paid by middlemen via his cousins, Julie, Sandeep and Dosca Tyagi.

Allegations against Tyagi first surfaced in 2011 when Italian prosecutors claimed that bribes were paid to him through intermediaries by Agustawestland for securing a Rs 3,546 crore contract to supply 12 AW-101 helicopters to the IAF.

As per media reports in April 2016, the Milan Court of Appeals overturned a lower court’s verdict and indicted Tyagi for receiving cash payments by wire transfer. Former CEO and chairman of Finmeccanica, Giuseppe Orsi and former AgustaWestland CEO Bruno Spagnolini were also among those charged by the court.

FIR was launched in the year 2013 and now the CBI has taken action
Do not know why CBI took so much time to investigate the case.

If he is at wrong he should be punished. On solid evidence only it should be done.If any involvement is there that also should come to the open ground.
