Fodder Scam Lalu Prasad Yadav sentenced to 5 Years fined Rs.25 Lakh

None of the convicts were present in the court and the sentencing was done through video conferencing.

The 17-year-old case involves fraudulent withdrawal to the tune of Rs 37.7 crore from Chaibasa treasury in the 1990s.

There were a total of 56 accused in the case. But during the trial, seven accused died, two turned approvers, one admitted to the crime and one was discharged.

Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad was on Thursday sentenced to 5 years imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 25 lakh on Lalu.
If he fails to pay he will have to serve six months more in Jail

Lalu Prasad and other convicts are currently lodged in the Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi

With the sentencing Lalu has also been disqualified from Parliament and has lost his Lok Sabha seat.
Lalu represented Bihar's Saran constituency

The sentencing also renders Lalu ineligible for contesting elections for at least 11 years as per a recent Supreme Court order.

Another former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra was sentenced to four years imprisonment and fined Rs. 5 Lakh only

Janata Dal United MP Jagdish Sharma, another accused, has also got a four-year jail term and he also loses his Lok Sabha seat.

The other politicians who have been convicted and jailed are former legislators RK Rana, Dhruv Bhagat and Vidya Sagar Nishad.

Former MLA, RK Rana, has been fined Rs 30 lakh and imprisonment of five years.

Lalus advocate told to Court that to give their client the minimum punishment of three years.

He told the court his client had turned 68 and was suffering from various old-age related diseases.

“Among other diseases, he is diabetic and also suffers from hypertension,”


Why Justice delayed Justice Denied?

After 17 years got punishment, for 5 years He enjoyed his life when he was young and healthy and even settled his kids.

Did the Government recovered Rs.950 Crore from the accused?

Who will pay the lost money, its tax payer’s money?

If there is no recovery of scam money then how can we say that India got justice?
