Day 12 – Anna Hazare Fast –

As Team Anna and Indian Media kept close watch on the happenings it became difficult to delay and Parliament had to pass the resolution.

Anna Hazare said that fulfill the simple 3 demands then he will break his fast but continue his agitation for strong bill.


Today Parliament passed the resolution after discussion in parliament.
Both Houses of Parliament on Saturday passed a resolution conveying the sense of the House on the Lokpal Bill.

Pranab Mukherjee moved a resolution after that Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha passed a resolution conveying the sense of the House on the Lokpal Bill.

After the passage of the Lokpal resolution in Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha also passed the resolution.

After the passing of resolution Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the Lok Sabha till Monday.

The resolution was passed by "Thumping of the desk.
Thumping of the desk is same like voice vote or we can say it’s equal to voice vote.

Union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh visited Ramlila Maidan with a copy of Lokpal resolution and a letter from PM Manmohan Singh.

Kiran Bedi twitted that Anna does not break his fast after sunset.
Anna Hazare will break his fast at 10 am on Sunday.

Following is the text of resolution passed by the Indian Parliament.

This House agrees in principle on the following issues for a strong and effective lok pal.

1- All government departments to have citizen's charter with timeline.

2 - Employees of centre and state governments to be brought under purview of Lokpal and Lokayuktas respectively. Lower bureaucracy to be under lok pal through an appropriate mechanism

3 - Establishment of lok ayukts in the states. An effective Lokpal at the Centre and Lokayuktas in states be set up.

And further resolves to forward the proceedings of the house to the related Standing Committee for its perusal while finalizing its report.

Congratulations to all of us to have made the second freedom movement, the anti corruption movement successful.
I feel excited about how to implement the citizen charter part. Probably an IT solution is the best way. The government forms may have to be redesigned and a machine readable part have to be included.
