Arrest Warrant issued against Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director Reliance Group of Industries
A consumer forum in Thrissur has issued a bailable arrest warrant against Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director Reliance Group of Industries for
failure to pay Rs 24,000 fine to a person who had purchased a mobile from Reliance
outlet in 2003.
In 2003 Dr Joseph Makkolil had purchased a mobile from Reliance outlet by paying Rs.10, 000. The mobile promised many features.
In 2005 Mukesh Ambani was Managing Director of Reliance Infocomm.
In 2005 the case was filed by Dr. Joseph Makkolil.
Dr. Joseph filed a petition saying that the manufacturer had failed to observe the terms and conditions stated and he approached the Forum for damages.
On October 30, 2010 forum ordered or directed Reliance to pay a fine of Rs 24,000 to Makkoli.
But Reliance did not pay to Dr.Joseph Makkolil.
After that Dr. Joseph filed an execution petition.
After hearing the petition the forum issued the order.
As per the order issued by the forum Mukesh Ambani has to be produced before the forum by February 15, 2012.
