Rip ghazal king singer Jagjit Singh dead at 70



on September 23 Jagjit Singh Recipient of Padma Shushan award, suffered brain haemorrhage after that he was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital where a life-saving surgery was performed on him.

Dr Sudhir Nandgaonkar, hospital spokesperson told PTI that Jagjit Singh passed away at 8.10 am after having a terrible haemorrhage,"

He is survived by his wife Chitra Singh.
Their only son Vivek Singh had died in a road accident in 1990.

He has sung in several languages including Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Nepali.

His famous Gazals include Meri zindagi kisi aur ki, mere naam ka koi aur hai, Apni marzi se kahan apne safar ke hum hain, Wo jo hum mein tumme qaraar tha, Patta-patta boota-boota haal hamaara jaane hai, Hoshwalo ko khabar, etc.

Jagjit Singh had also given his voice for ex-prime minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee poems in the albums 'Nayi Disha' and 'Samvedna'.

RIP - The meaning is Rest In Peace.
