Home Minister P Chidambaram behind attack on Ramdev Baba and his supporters on Ramlila Maidan – Advocate Ram Jethmalani Says in Supreme Court

Supreme Court had taken on June 6 suo motu cognizance of the midnight crackdown and had asked the Centre and Delhi Police to explain why it resorted to such a drastic action in middle of the night against the Ramdev Baba and his followers.

After that Delhi Police filed an affidavit in SC and denied the allegations that it had used force to evict the Ramdev Baba and his supporters from the site and claimed teargas shells were fired only after Ramdev's supporters turned violent and started pelting stones on the police.

After getting order from SC Police Commissioner Gupta filed a personal affidavit
detailing the circumstances under which Delhi Police used force and fired tear gas to evict Ramdev and his supporters from Ramlila Ground.

Baba Ramdev has challenged the government's version of what happened that night.
Ramdev filed his reply in the SC on the police crackdown at Ramlila Maidan.

Advocate Ram Jethmalani is representing the side of Ramdev Baba.
Ramdev told Supreme Court that Home Minister P Chidambaram was behind crackdown at Ramlila Maidan and he was manhandled on the intervening night of June 4 and 5 and was arrested.

In his reply to SC Ramdev Baba said that Ramlila Maidan gathering was a yoga camp and that three sessions were held during the day.
He claimed that he had video footage to substantiate his claim.

A bench comprising justices B S Chauhan and Swatanter Kumar asked Delhi Police
Why FIR was not registered against Delhi Police officials on complaint of Ramdev's followers.
The Bench said this has to be clarified in an affidavit.

Supreme Court has asked Delhi Police to explain what is the reason Delhi Police used teargas and baton-charge in the closed enclosure on people who were sleeping.
The SC court has asked Delhi Police to furnish the footage of June 4 crackdown.

The Bench said the previous affidavit did not clarify what happened between June 1 and June 3. It said the DVDs and photographs, including the documents, clearly showed that yoga was being practiced at the venue

Advocate Ram Jethmalani sought a direction that the Home Minister P Chidambaram should explain the incident and notice should be issued to him personally.

The SC court will take up this plea during the next hearing on July 25.

Last Month that is June Ramdev Baba had sought permission for live telecast of his campaign against black money at Ramlila Maidan but permission was denied by the I&B ministry.

Ramdev Baba close friend or right hand Balkrishna owns over 90% stake in Aastha channel through Vedic Broadcasting Limited.

As a general entertainment channel, Aastha does not have permission to uplink live programming.

According to the uplinking and downlinking guidelines, a general entertainment channel does not have permission to show live telecasts and must take special permission from the ministry.

Congress OWES an Apology to Nation for Unleashing Terror at Midnight at Ramlila Ground. SC must force to pay all damages of Pandals and Medical bills from Politicians and Delhi Police' personal assets. Delhi Police acted as STATE SPONSORED TERRORISTS on Tax-Payers money when cracked down on sleeping innocent Baba Ramdev's followers in middle of Night. Top Police Officials and HM P Chidambaram must be FIRED from Job and Arrested on Terrorism on Citizens.

Police is a state subject. Not a union subject. If the police have listened to the Union Home Minister then Delhi Police have made the mistake of not following the protocol.
If any confusion exists, then this confusion should be removed at the earliest. Then the Ramlila Maidan incident will be remembered for this historic confusion removal.

Well public order is a state subject. Criminal act is in concurrent list(both state and centre).
The shivir at Ramlila Maidan was at the best a public order disturbance. A state subject.
Delhi Police have not followed the protocol. It is very clear.
