Rs. 400 Crore Delhi Water Tanker scam happened in year 2012.
in 2012, Congress’s Sheila Dikshit was the chief minister and also the chairperson of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).
The water tanker scam pertains to alleged irregularities and corruption in hiring private water tankers to supply in areas where piped water is not supplied.

In 2012, Sheila Dikshit, the then chairperson of the Delhi Jal Board, had given tenders for procuring around 385 stainless steel tankers from private companies.

In June 2015 AAP government set up a five-member fact-finding committee to probe the allegations. Under the Delhi Water Minister, Kapil Mishra, a five-member team was formed to look into this. The committee submitted its report to Kejriwal in August 2015, and highlighted corruption in the awarding of tenders.

It had recommended filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against Sheila Dikshit and a probe by the CBI and the ACB. The report was also sent to the then Delhi Lieutenant-Governor, Najeeb Jung, who had sent it to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

The FIR against Kejriwal was registered on a complaint by BJP legislator Vijender Gupta “for causing delay in the probe and not cancelling the contract for water tankers”.

On the issue of purchasing water tankers Sheila Dikshit said, "I didn't make the decision alone. IAS officers, MCD members, even some BJP members were part of the decision making the tankers they are accusing me of choosing are still going strong."

On May 6, 2017 Arvind Kejriwal sacked Mishra as water minister and DJB chairperson.
