Sedition Case filed against Amnesty International India

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) filed a complaint against Amnesty International India. After that on Saturday, the J.C. Nagar police has charged Amnesty International India under section 124A of the Indian Penal Code, which defines sedition as brings or attempts to bring into hatred or contempt, or excites or attempts to excite disaffection towards the Government of India.

Bengaluru police filed sedition charges against Amnesty International, a human rights advocacy group, after an event highlighting alleged human rights violations in Kashmir

The multi city event Broken Families held at Untied Theological College, JC Nagar, on Saturday, was to have three families invited from Kashmir to narrate their version of the human rights violations and atrocities allegedly committed by security forces.

FIR against Amnesty International and others, is under sections 124a (sedition), 153a (promoting enmity), 142 (unlawful assembly), 147 and (rioting).
