Brunei bans Christmas celebrations, wearing Santa Hats
Sultan of Brunei has banned the Christmas 'because it could damage faith of Muslims'
As per ban public celebrations of Christmas, warning that putting up festive decorations or singing carols could threaten the country's Muslim faith.
At least 65% population in Brunei is Muslim.
Muslims seen celebrating Christmas and non-Muslims found to be organizing celebrations could face up to five years’ jail.
Christians and others can celebrate Christmas, but must do so in private and have to first alert the authorities on the conditions that on the condition that the celebrations are not disclosed to Muslims.
Local Islamic religious leaders have promoted the ban
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah introduced the ban on Christmas in 2014, the same year Brunei adopted a stricter penal code, based on Islamic sharia and including punishments such as stoning and amputation.
the punishment for celebrating Christmas is a fine of $20,000 or up to five years in prison, or both.
The nation’s ministry of religious affairs said in a statement the ban was “intended to control the act of celebrating Christmas excessively and openly, which could damage the aqidah (beliefs) of the Muslim community.”

ब्रूनेई के सुल्तान का दिमाग खराब हो गया है। 2015 के दिसंबर का महीना तो बहुत ही मुबारक है। दुनिया 24 दिसंबर को पैगंबर हजरत मोहम्मद का जन्मदिन मनाएगी तो 25 दिसंबर को ईसा मसीह। जिन्हें मुसलमान ईसा अलैस्सलाम के नाम पुकारते और मानते हैं। ईसाई ईसा का जन्मदिन कैसे मनाते हैं यह तय करने का अधिकार मुसलमानों को नहीं है। मुसलमानों को यदि ईसा अलैस्सलाम का जन्मदिन से कुछ मतलब है, तो अपने इस पैगंबर के लिए भी सम्मान बचा कर रखें। क्योंकि कुरान के मुताबिक ईसा फिर आएंगें।
