UP journalist burned to death dies FIR registered against UP Minister
Shahjahanpur-based journalist Jagendra Singh has died after he was allegedly burnt alive for a Facebook post against Samajwadi Party MLA Ram Murti.
Singh’s Facebook page had at least three recent posts levelling allegations against Verma
He wrote about one rape case and illegal mining and involvement of minister
Journalist had posted messages on Facebook about the Minister being involved in illegal mining.
Jagendra Singh, his family alleged on Tuesday, was set on fire by a bunch of cops and goons sent by Verma on June 1
The journalist had alleged police inspector Sriprakash Rai set him on fire. He also accused Verma, the dairy development minister and a leader of the ruling Samajwadi Party, of hatching a conspiracy to kill him.
Police have now filed an FIR against the minister and 4 others, including the Kotwali station in-charge, under Sections 302 (murder), 504 (insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
The persons named in the FIR are Ghufran, Akash Gupta, Amit Pratap Singh, Bhure and a police inspector, Sri Prakash Rai.
