France passed new law Super Markets cannot destroy unsold food , must donate to charities or to farms.

France's parliament has voted to forbid big supermarkets from destroying unsold food, encouraging them to donate to charities or farms instead, as part of a national environmental bill, campaign against food waste.

The bill would require big supermarket chains to donate following types of food or goods to charities or to farms for use as animal feed or compost

1-
Goods no longer fit for sale

2-
Goods that were packaged wrong or damaged, but remain edible

3-
Goods that are past a recommended use-by date but are not dangerous to eat.

4-
Foods that are past a firm expiration date would go to farms.

National Assembly, the lower house of Parliament approved the amendment.
Now the bill will go to Assembly for vote and then to Senate and is likely to pass in both houses.
