Global Index 2014 List Top Countries Ranked Best for old citizens 

The 2014 Global Age Watch Index ranks 96 nations on the quality of life for the over 60s

Globally, by 2050, the report claims the number of over 60s will be 21 per cent of the global population. This is almost double the current figure of 12 per cent.

The index studies income, employment opportunities, access to public transport and life expectancy

Globally Norway tops the 2014 Index this year, closely followed by Sweden. Apart from Japan (9) all the top 10 countries are again in Western Europe, North America and Australasia.

The London-based charity created its second annual index of 96 countries, and ranked countries on economic security, health, access to public transport and societal inclusion.

Many countries proudly say that they are proud of their culture that and that but actually what they do for the old citizens

Norway is number 1 country because it deals the problems practically and helps older citizens

25 years back Norway started towards this created pension fund and facilities which improved the life of old citizens.

India Ranks 69 

That’s according to findings from the 2014 Global Age Watch Index.

It ranks 96 nations on the basis of the quality of life and social and economic status of older people, aged 60 and over.

The index studies four areas, in particular.

Income covers the
state of pensions,
relative welfare of older people,
GDP in each country,
and poverty rate in old age.

Health status includes life expectancy at 60 and psychological status.

Capability covers the employment level and educational status of older people, and ‘Enabling environment’ includes physical safety, social connections and access to public transport.

What these surveys don't say is, how much it costs to avail those facilities. The people there pay so much of taxes all through their employment, and naturally they get benefits after retirement.

The cost of living in countries like India, esp. in small towns and villages, is less, and hence one doesn't have to be earning thousands of dollars every month just to survive during old age.

its just not about benefits and money.
Old age care counts today in India even young people find it difficult to cross roads or travel in Bus we do not have any facilities for old people as well as disabled people
