In college also he played the role of villain in college shows, programs
At the age of 21 in 1971, Sadashiv migrated to theatre and the stage. He acted and directed more than fifty plays.
He began to act in minor roles in Marathi cinema until in 1979

He found his first major break in film playing Bal Gangadhar Tilak in the Marathi historical film 22 June 1897.

In 1981-82, Amrapurkar acted in a Marathi stage play Hands-Up
He came to Bombay and he was working with Vijay Tendular that time Tendulkar asked him will he do the role in movie Ardha Satya and he accepted that role, this way Bollywood got the new Villain Sadashiv marapurkar
This play was a super-hit and Amrapurkar was noticed by director Govind Nihalani who was searching for an artiste to play the central negative character in his movie Ardh Satya. The movie went on to be a hit and Amrapurkar's acting was appreciated.
Tendulkar told to Amarapurkar that his eyes are opportunist and thus he offered him that role in Ardha Satya

That time people started to waste water on the name of Holi where he resided Thus as a social duty he protested that time no one supported him he fought alone
In March 2013, he was severely beaten while he was protesting against water wastage during Holi festival near his residence in Mumbai
