MLA Srinath Soren listed as below poverty line but bought Toyota Fortuner SUV

MLA Srinath Soren his name features in the ward-2 BPL list (card number 282925), according to a report by TOI.

Right to Information query has revealed that Srinath Soren, an MLA of the ruling party Biju Janata Dal, has been listed below the poverty line since 1997.

MLA Srinath Soren who is BPL MLA drives around in a Toyota Fortuner that costs over Rs 20 lakh, owns land worth Rs 2, 50,000, gold, 3 bikes, and has life insurance.

BPL card was issued to him under the survey of 1997-1998, when Soren was a Panchayat samiti member.

BPL means below poverty line
In India, a person is considered below the poverty line if his income is Rs. 22.40 per day in rural areas and Rs. 28.65 per day in urban areas.

One American Dollar is equal to Indian Rs. 55.

Real Indian poor people do not even get the BPL card majority times without paying bribes.
