Brother of Advocate challenging Delhi Police in Gang-rape case illegally detained and beaten up in police custody

Brother of Advocate challenging Delhi Police in Gang-rape case illegally detained and beaten up in police custody. Can this be a mere coincidence?

Loknath Bharti, brother of Somnath Bharti who has challenged Delhi Police in Delhi gangrape case, was arrested in a false case and brutally beaten up by Bangalore Police last night. Incidentally, the hearing of Loknath’s bail application and hearing of gangrape case are both scheduled on Tuesday. Can this be a mere coincidence or a conspiracy in the making?

Loknath Bharti was illegally arrested, beaten up and sent on a judicial remand yesterday night in Bangalore on charge of a bailable offence 506. However, it was cleverly done on a Saturday night around 11 pm. He was informed neither of his charges nor the fact that these were bailable. He was produced before a magistrate late in the night and then sent to Central Jail where he was kept with hardcore criminals for reasons worth a judicial probe. It is notable that in very rare cases is a person arrested and produced before the magistrate at night. Doing so in a bailable offence is questionable. As per Somnath Bharti, the concerned police officer Sub Inspector Mr. Gauda of hrs layout Police Station was drunk in a party when contacted. This exposes serious lawless situation in Karnataka and massive misuse of police for ulterior motives.

Somnath Bharti, who has challenged Delhi Police in Delhi gangrape case said, “This exposes BJP-Congress pact to weaken my spirit in prosecuting Delhi Police officials for falsely implicating 8 young men for death of Constable Subhash Tomar and more so because it is listed before Hon’ble High Court of Delhi on January 15.” The same day when his brother Loknath would be produced for hearing of his bail application.

Loknath is a software engineer living in Bangalore. He was denied medical care for the wounds caused by beating of the police. According to Somnath Bharti, he was told that no one can save him at least until Tuesday – this is important because on Tuesday DHC is going to listen to Delhi Police on their defense on arrest of eight innocent youth.

Aam Aadmi Party strongly condemns this misuse of power.
