Pakistan SC disqualifies Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani from holding Prime Minister’s Office

2 months back Supreme Court of Pakistan convicted Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani for contempt for refusing to ask Swiss authorities to reopen corruption cases against Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari.

Today Pakistan SC said that Mr Gilani has been ineligible since April 26 this year.

Today Pakistan SC disqualified Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani from holding office.

The Pakistan Supreme Court directed the Election Commission to issue a notification that PM Gilani is no longer a Member of Parliament.

Prime Minister Gilani is the first PM who was punished by Pakistan Supreme Court.

On May 24 all politicians united and said that there is no question of disqualification even if PM was convicted.

Now President Asif Ali Zardari the accused in a corruption case has been directed by the Supreme Court to play a constitutional role for the continuation of democracy in Pakistan.
