Sikhs can register marriage under Anand Marriage Act instead of Hindu Marriage Act Law passed by parliament

Sikhs can register marriage under Anand Marriage Act instead of Hindu Marriage Act Law passed by parliament

Sikh marriage ceremonies are known as 'Anand Karaj'

Indian Parliament has passed a law which will allow Sikh people
to register their marriages under the Anand Marriage Act instead of the Hindu Marriage Act.

According to the amendment bill, couples whose marriages have been registered under this Act will not be required to get their marriage registered under the Registration of Births, Marriages and Deaths Act, 1969 or any other law for the time being in force.

The first it was passed in Upper house and today it was passed in lower house with voice vote.

Anand Marriage law was enacted in 1909; there was no provision for registration of marriages which were registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.

Suggested Reform –

India needs to register the marriage and death of Indian citizen as a Indian citizen not based on religion and caste.

Needs only one registration law which will say Indian Got Married and Indian died.
Indian took birth.
