Jewel thieves have stolen a prized diamond. Help find them. Win $5,000.
The infamous Panther Five has pulled an audacious new heist: they’ve stolen the world’s 3rd most expensive jewel, the Adly Diamond, from the Overholt Showroom in Washington, DC. Now they’ve split up and fled—dispersed to five different cities.
We’re offering a reward to help find them. Tag will release their mugshots here on game day: March 31, 2012.

The US State Department is testing the power of crowdsourcing and social media with its "Tag Challenge" on March 31, and the successful team of trackers will win $5,000

Tag Challenge is a social gaming competition in which participants are invited to find “suspects” in a simulated law enforcement search in five different cities throughout North America and Europe on March 31, 2012.

In order to win, a participant or team must be the first to successfully locate and photograph all volunteer suspects—the nefarious and elusive “Panther Five”—and submit verifiable photographs to the contest organizers.

A photograph or “mugshot” of each suspect will be posted to the contest website on the day of the event.
Each suspect will be wearing a shirt bearing the event logo.
The suspect’s face, dress, and the contest logo will be clearly visible in each of the mugshots.
Contestants may use only this photograph and any other information provided on the event website to identify each suspect.

The winning strategy will likely involve building a network of spotters and teammates through social media in each of the five cities.
The suspects and their back-stories are, of course, entirely fictional. But we’re offering a real “reward” if you can find them: $5000.

Who are the suspects?
5 Suspects
1. Location: Washington DC - Teresa Bay
2. Location – New York City USA - Vanda Gerschwitz – Costumes & Impersonation Expert
3. Location – London England - R. Winkler – Con man extraodinaire
4. Location: Stockholm, Sweden - Freddie “Four Fingers” – Demolition Expert
5. Location: Bratislava, Slovakia, - Chuck Lytton – Ringleader / ideas man

Tag Challenge is an independent, nonprofit event, conducted in a spirit of fun and curiosity.
The event was conceived and organized by a group of graduate students from six different countries
Tag Challenge is sponsored by the US Department of State and the US Embassy in Prague, in association with the Institute of International Education.

Who is eligible to enter the contest?
The Contest is open to individuals in all countries. However, participants under the age of 18 must receive the consent of a parent or guardian before participating. The Contest will likely involve interacting with other individuals on social networking sites, therefore, underage participants must have parental supervision at all times and for all Contest activities.

Only individuals are allowed to submit an entry and only individuals are eligible for the prize. Entries from corporations, law enforcement agencies, or other organizations are not allowed. Project organizers may ask for confirmation of identity before awarding the prize.

The contest will take place in Washington, DC, USA; New York City, NY, USA; London, England; Bratislava, Slovakia; and Stockholm, Sweden. The event will begin at 8:00 am in each respective city on March 31, 2012, and end at 8:00 pm in each respective city, according to local time.

The first person to send a verifiable photo of each suspect, taken within the hours of the contest on the day of the event, wins. The submission period will be open until 12:00 pm, noon, on April 1, 2012.

Tag Challenge will award a single $5,000 cash prize to the first participant to submit pictures within the contest period.

The prize will be issued as a check or bank transfer, at the discretion of Tag Challenge.

sm, Interesting game but appears difficult because how they are going to collectively find and submit all five photographs in twelve hours?

Is this one time game or they will continue to play this game in future?

Sharing $5000 is difficult too because different countries are involved. We will see it on 31st March. Thanks for sharing this interesting news.
