Today Pop music queen Whitney Houston died.
She was 48 years old.

On Saturday Beverly Hills police Lt. Mark Rosen told to media and press
outside the Beverly Hilton that Whitney Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.

Los Angeles County coroners removed Houston's body from the hotel after midnight through a backdoor to avoid the crush of media set up to cover her shocking death.

an official cause of death would not be released until after toxicology tests, which could take six to eight weeks.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1963, Houston was inspired to perform as a child by soul singers in her family, including mother Cissy Houston and cousins Dionne Warwick and the late Dee Dee Warwick. Her godmother was Aretha Franklin.


She ruled the music world between 1980 to 1990
she starred in hits like "The Bodyguard" and "Waiting to Exhale.

In 2009, the Guinness World Records cited her as the most-awarded female act of all time.
Her list of awards includes
• two Emmy Awards,
• six Grammy Awards,
• 30 Billboard Music Awards,
• 22 American Music Awards,
• among a total of 415 career awards as of 2010.

Houston was also one of the world's best-selling music artists, having sold over 170 million albums, singles and videos worldwide.


In 1992, singer Whitney Houston recorded the soundtrack to The Bodyguard, her film debut and her co-star Kevin Costner brought her Linda Ronstadt's 1975 version of "I Will Always Love You" from her album Prisoner in Disguise. Houston re-arranged the song as a soul ballad. Dolly Parton wrote the song in 1973.
The song and movie both became hit.

1. Whitney Houston was a chronic cocaine user who had the drug in her system when she drowned in a hotel bathtub, coroner's officials said Thursday after releasing autopsy findings that also noted heart disease contributed to her death.

2. She had buildup of plaque in her arteries that can restrict blood flow.

3. Beverly Hills police said in a statement there was no evidence of wrongdoing in connection with Houston's death.

4. Coroner's Chief of Operations Craig Harvey said cocaine and its byproducts were found in Houston’s body.

5. Toxicology results also showed Houston had marijuana, Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril, and the allergy medication Benadryl in her body.

6. Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said it wasn't clear whether Houston had a heart attack on the day she died.

7. The exact amount of cocaine in Houston's system was not disclosed but will be contained in a full autopsy report to be released in about two weeks, officials said

It is pathetic to see how many precious lives are being lost due to lifestyle issues.Michel Jackson and now,Whitney, both victims of drug abuse.
