Lokayukta registrar Moosa Kunhi Nayar Moole submitted the illegal mining report to chief secretary S V Ranganath on behalf of Lokayukta Justice Santosh N Hegde.

The report says that illegal mining caused the state the loss of Rs. 16,085 crore.
Loss of state means it is loss to you and your kids and family.
It’s your money it’s my money.


Following are the important points of the report on illegal mining prepared by Karnataka Lokayukta N. Santosh

1. Try Yeddyurappa for graft because a trust run by his sons received Rs.10 crore donation from an iron ore mining firm that was financially not in a sound position and borrowed the money and then paid the Trust.

2. The sons of Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa sold one acre land near Bangalore, whose market value was Rs.1 crore, for Rs.20 crore to a mining firm.


3. Mining barons and ministers Reddy brothers -- Tourism Minister G. Janardhana Reddy and Revenue Minister G. Karunakara Reddy, Health Minister B.Sriramulu, Housing Minister V. Somanna's wife involved in mining scam.

4. Congress Rajya Sabha member and mining baron Anil Lad's wife involved in illegal mining. To be tried.


5. Former chief minister and Janata Dal-Secular state president H.D. Kumaraswamy granted two mining leases, flouting rules. Should be prosecuted.

6. BJP legislator B. Nagendra also involved. To be tried.


7. Total number of officials to be tried – 787

8. Number of companies named in the report - over 100


9. Unlawful activities found - mining in larger areas than permitted

10. Unlawful activities found – exporting with fake documents


11. Unlawful activities found - overloading of trucks

12. Unlawful activities found - encroachment of forest areas


13. Files perused - 400,000

14. Entries examined - 50 lakh (five million)


15. December 18,2008 - Interim report on illegal mining given but no action was taken.Just cases were filed against 55 companies.
