Swimsuit showing Laxmi Goddess High Court issued Notice to MEA, Australian Embassy, Press Council of India and an editor of a national Hindi daily

Last Thursday in an Australian fashion week Lisa Blue swimwear showed there swimwear in that collection of swimwear it It features a vibrant image of Lakshmi across the front and along the rear.

A swimsuit featuring a print of Hindu goddess Lakshmi made some Hindus upset and angree.
On swimwear goddess Laxmi was displayed.

After that few organizations showed there anger regarding that swimwear

Few advocates informed this to the High Court regarding this and the Hindi Daily who published those photographs in the news paper after that a division bench comprising Justice Abdul Mateen and Justice Jayshree Tiwari took cognizance and court converted it into public interest litigation as the photos had hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has issued notices to Union external
Affairs ministry, Australian Embassy, Press Council of India and an editor of a national Hindi daily in connection with the photographs of models wearing swimsuits with graffiti of Hindu goddesses, published in a newspaper on May 6

The photographs did not hurt the sentiments of all the Hindus but only because of fear those Hindus whose sentiments did not hurt keep there mouth shuts.
As democracy is only on the paper in reality in India we got the Mobocracy.

The bench in its notice to the Union ministry of external affairs has asked it to take up the issue with its counterpart in Australia.

It has also asked the Australian Embassy to respond on the act which had hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

The court has asked the Press Council of India to explain the guidelines under which media could publish such pictures and take appropriate action if any rule had been violated.

It has asked the editor of the Hindi national daily to explain the circumstances under which such a photograph was published.

The four respondents have been given six weeks time to file their replies.

God is everywhere , God is in you, God is in me, God is in cotton and Everything is in God and God is everything so how come something can be bad.

Few days back Lisa Blue swimwear already released the statement when they come to know that few Hindu groups are angree regarding this.

Below is the statement released by Lisa Blue swimwear regarding Goddess Laxmi featuring on swimwear.

''We would like to offer an apology to anyone we may have offended and advice that the image of Goddess Lakshmi will not appear on any piece of Lisa Blue swimwear for the new season, with a halt put on all production of the new range and pieces shown on the runway from last week removed.

Lisa Blue has been born out of a love of conservation, spirituality and a respect for all people.
At no time would we ever have intended that the brand would cause offence.
The use of images of Goddess Lakshmi was not in any way a measure of calculated risk taking, simply it was a desire to celebrate different cultures and share that through our brand.''

End of statement.

Nothing is going to happen in this case.
What happened in the case of paintings we know it.
This happened in MF hussain case also. Lisa swimwear is getting free of cost marketing.
If you are angree and upset regarding that just ignore the Brand Lisa Swimwear and decide that you will never purchase Lisa swimwear its simple.

It was clearly unintentional.

India is land of God and Godesses and we love creating controversies........

Australians are known for their nasty comments which hurts others sentiments.

It is primarily a woman issue. Women organisations should oppose it.

India is becoming a land of jury judgement.

seems unintentional but they could have done some research prior to using the images

If sentiments of all Hindus don't get hurt, still we should respect the people whose sentiments get hurt. And though God is everywhere, but when some people are worshiping Gods or Goddesses, in some specific form, they should be respected. Goddesses are always called as Mothers. People like M. F. Hussain can try their art on their mother.

This is not question of Religion, but sign of civilized society to respect each others' cultures and faiths. also this is not the question to ridicule about Hindu faiths, I see in other religions, their religious faiths are unnecessarily ridiculed.

But to give unnecessary hype to these pics is totally wrong, I agree with you in this aspect.

Create a controversy , create a huge market. But why only Hindu Gods or Goddesses are used for this .

Arti May 11, 2011

Agree with chitra. But I guess all's well that ends well and we should just move on!

Though it was unintentional, a prior research wouldn't harm them.
There was similar news like this about there being Lord Sri Krishna's picture on some footwear.

I think it was intentional. Now as the controversy got hype there will be 100% increase in sales of brand. It was a marketing funda to increase sales by controversy, else its common sense that such things will surely lead to religious disturbances.

I think it was in poor taste for the manufacturers of Lisa Swimwear to produce a bathing suit with the likeness of a Hindu deity on it. They had to know it would be offensive to some people, just as a bathing suit with the likeness of Jesus Christ might offend potential buyers. There are thousands of other decorations to affix to swimsuit designs, one needn't choose something that is potentially so apt to create an uproar. I, personally, would not purchase anything from them because of their
lack of sensitivity. Perhaps they are delighted
with all the press now pouring forth for their brand.
