Bombay High Court upholds Kasab Death Punishment – When Kasab will get Death Punishment

Bombay High Court upholds Kasab Death Punishment –
When Kasab will get Death Punishment

Calling Kasab's case the "rarest of rare", the two-judge bench comprising justices Ranjana Desai and RV More dismissed an appeal filed by Kasab challenging the death sentence by Special Judge ML Tahaliyani in May 2010.

Kasab made his fourth appearance in the High Court through teleconferencing on Monday.

The entire proceeding lasted for just a few moments before the court pronounced its verdict.

Special Judge ML Tahaliyani on May 6, 2010 gave 22-year-old Kasab death sentence on five counts of murder, conspiracy to murder, waging war against the country, abetting murder and indulging in terrorist activities.

The Bombay High Court upheld the lower court's order completely and found Kasab guilty of seven murders including the killings of senior Mumbai Police officials Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte and Vijay Salaskar.

"This is rarest of rare matter so he should face capital punishment. Kasab and Abu Ismail together killed 56 people," the two-judge division bench comprising justices Ranjana Desai and RV More observed while dismissing an appeal filed by Kasab challenging the death sentence by Special Judge ML Tahaliyani in May 2010.

the High Court also dismissed Maharashtra Government's appeal against acquittal of Fahim Ansari and Sabauddin Ahmed. Fahim and Sabauddin were accused of preparing maps of Mumbai and giving them to alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba operatives.

Now what will happen –?

Now again Kasab will file appeal in Supreme court of India.

That's the beauty of our Indian system...he enjoys being alive while the dead and their living relatives wait in vain...being an ex mumbaiate whose has lived through the riots of 92 and numerous bomb blasts this makes my blood boil...
when one of my ex neighbour's daughter was murdered by her husband in NZealand..he was given 14 yrs without parole(as it was a act of rage not cold blooded) in less than 10 months even without eyewitnesses..
and here even after 2 yrs of killing dozens, captured on camera...he is enjoying appeal after appeal at our - taxpayers expense .......

Hi SM! Hope all is well.

Do you really believe such sentences help? I don't.

deeps February 22, 2011

the earlier they can award him his hook, the lesser they need to spend on him (on any culprit for that matter)

I agree sm. Kasab may be actually hanged in 1 year or possibly more time.
The fault is with the casual attitude of the people who matter. There is a need to show more responsibility from those who are in top.
Kasab may die a death terrorised by inaction in a jail . . .

Its just foolish to think such sentences will help, specially after the time that was spent in punishment procedure.

sometimes when you see the crime committed, sadly we realize we do not have enough power to punish a person rightly.
