BJS - Bharatiya Jana Sangh
BJS opposed that time also the Kashmir and article 370

Now comes 2nd stage BJS become Janata dal in the year 1977 .

Time-Line (Chronology)

Bharatiya Jana Sangh 1951 - 1977

Janata Party 1977 - 1979

Bharatiya Janata Party 1980

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was founded in the year 1980 .
Which later on become the 2nd largest political parties of India as congress party of India is number one . With right policies if used by BJP it can become number one party of India
The BJP, in alliance with several other parties, was in power from 1998 to 2004, with Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the Prime Minister.

The BJP and the NDA suffered a shock defeat in the general elections in 2004, and failed to muster a parliamentary majority. A.B. Vajpayee passed on the prime minister ship to Dr. Man Mohan Singh of the Congress Party, and it’s United Progressive Alliance.
In 2009 general elections, BJP again faced defeat and its strength in Lok Sabha reduced to 116 seats. The unexpected defeat of BJP is attributed to bad performance of party in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh.

Chronological List of Bharatiya Janata Party Presidents:
1 Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee 1980
2 Shri Lal Krishna Advani 1986
3 Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi 1990

8 Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu 2002
9 Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu 2004
10 Shri Lal Krishna Advani 27th Oct. 2004 to 31st Dec.2006
11 Shri Rajnath Singh 1st Jan. 2006 to 26th Nov. 2006
12 Shri Rajnath Singh 26th Nov. 2006 to till now

In the era of coaliation governments I am not writing on the constitution and beliefs of BJP party .

In today’s India next minimum 50 years I see that no party can win alone the majority seats  to form single party government in the parliament.

Controversies and criticism on BJP :

Destruction of the Mosque and Monument called Babri Masjid.

In 2002, communal riots happened in Gujarat under BJP rule.

India shining" advertisements:
The BJP government spent approximately Rs. 500 crores for the advertisements campaign during 2004 Parliament elections. This was the tax payers’ money .
This also became one of the reasons for the BJP defeat in the elections of 2004

After defeat in the 2009 elections ,BJP is now in the shock .
We just hope that there is no brake up in the BJP party .
For good democracy every country needs 2 main strong political parties if BJP brakes up it will result into gross loss for India .
This election has again proved that BJP failed to reach to  masses .
The time has come for BJP to change .
Change for progress .
Can I say that yes BJP can change
Are you doubtful ?

Very interesting,sm. Lots of information.. I hope too that BJP does not disintegrate - because we need a strong opposition - an opposition which acts as a balance to the govt.. a responsible opposition.

I do hope that the BJP takes this opportunity to change itself and pursue issues which actually matter to the people - as opposed to meaningless divisive politics..

every party will have a period of time, wherein it will be tested to decide its "future" by the way it handles the crisis it faces ... and if the party is on the right track then it will "Survive" ...

this surely is a testing time for BJP.

Everymatter June 20, 2009

Wow. BJP is a relatively new kid on the block. Didn't know that!
You are so correct about the need for at least two important political parties for competition but both should have quality leadership and vision too....

Dhiman June 20, 2009

Nice and informative post about BJP since the party is still evolving I think its leaders now should forget their individual goals and work towards strengthening the party... because we need a strong democratic national party to counter the ruling party...

no educated man in India believes in congress and their two mouth campaigns anymore, this can be seen evident in 2009 election where only bogus, minorities cast their vote. BJP needs to get their politics correct, one thing we need to see is that most bridges in India where build during BJP rule, including the mumbai-pune-expressway as well. They have nice portfolio, but they have less policies.
I believe one day RSS will make them change. That will b the day India will be actually free and no Gandhi present in this country to sell us all.
Nice info...thought.
Cheers.

B.J.P.no doubt is a national cadarebased party.these days, unfortunatly ,indicipline in the party itself ,at the top level ,is underlined in block letters .suggestions must be invited from the each corner and considered .It will help the party to perform effectively in the left benches of parliament

m myself a very enthusiastic suppoter of the BJP and thr ideologies.. i worked hard too thru the internet to campaign for the BJP thru the social-networking sited and personally too convincing people to vote in favour of BJP. i was in a state of deep shock when the results were out.

the manner in which the whole india has voted for the congress alone is an alarming situatuion. i wrote an article on it u can read it here

SM,i am happy someone has taken time to analyse a party called BJP.Let us not write them off because of single defeat.
It is time for BJP to restructure the party.Everyone seems to be singing a different tune.Advani seems to be on the defencive in the part itself.Irrespective of consequences, they must take hard decisions and act like a constructive opposition,at the same time bring the younger lot in to the main stream.

The controversies and criticism has only got worse. I fear we will see more of hardline Hindutva approach now :( I wish they could focus on their work and leave religion to us :(

sm,  August 25, 2009

IHM you are right, but more the aggression they will show i am sure more badly they will do in elections.

Tejaswy September 12, 2009

Change....It just need people who ... are young and energitic... and have a charisma with todays genration... Like Arun Jaitly, Arun Shourie,Sushma Swaraj ana Venkaiah Naidu....
Advani is done and so is Rajnath Singh.
The next time it wants to get back to the center it should win the delhi assembly first.. the one who rules delhi...rules India

sm,  September 13, 2009

Tejaswy,
i agree that BJP needs youth in the party to rule the party.
