 Plot Summary
The film revolves around two childhood friends/brothers-at-heart, Suraj and Amar, whose lives are scarred early on after watching a brutal police assault on their father.
They grow up to become petty criminals and cross paths with a major underworld figure, Pasha.
While Amar despises the violent drug-dealing lifestyle and tries to step away, Suraj is consumed by ambition and a desire for immense wealth.
Suraj kills Pasha and takes over the gang.
Despite parting ways morally, their bond is tested when a supreme underworld don (Sultan, played by Anupam Kher) orders Suraj to assassinate Amar.
Suraj refuses, leading to a tragic, emotional climax where Suraj sacrifices his life to protect his friend Amar.

 The Pakistani Cricketer Turned Actor:
Mohsin Khan, who played the parallel lead Amar, was a famous Pakistani opening batsman who transitioned into Bollywood films in the late 1980s and early 90s (he was also married to Bollywood actress Reena Roy for a period).

lyricist Sameer Anjaan shared a  specific story in interviews, and it actually directly involves the song from Saathi—"Zindagi Ki Talaash Mein"!

What Sameer Shared in the Interview:
The 4:00 AM Call: Sameer recalled that one morning at around 4:00 AM, he received a phone call from an unknown number.
The Crying Gangster: On the other end of the line was a man connected to the underworld who had been drinking heavily and was actually crying.
Praising the Lyrics: The man told Sameer, "Sir, you have written my entire life story in just two lines."
He then quoted the famous opening lines of the Saathi song:
“Zindagi ki talaash mein hum, maut ke kitne paas aa gaye... jab yeh socha toh ghabra gaye, hum kahan the, kahan aa gaye.
”The Reality of the Underworld: The gangster poured his heart out, explaining how those lines perfectly captured the dark, inescapable, and terrifying reality of someone who entered the world of crime looking for a livelihood, only to find themselves standing right at death's door

The gangster reportedly said: “Tumne mere dil ki baat likh di hai” (“You have written the feelings of my heart”).

The song plays during Suraj’s (Aditya Pancholi) rise and inner conflict as he becomes a gangster.

Lyrics with english translation of song  Zindagi Ki Talash Mein

In the search for life, how close we have come to death

When we thought of this, we got scared

Where have we arrived

We have arrived

In the search for life, how close we have come to death

We set out on a journey that had no destination at all

Whatever we did our whole life, there was no achievement from it

There was no achievement from it

We were in search of one happiness

How many sorrows tormented us

When we thought of this, we got scared

Where have we arrived

We have arrived

Think, when were we so helpless

What we should not have done, we did

When we looked back a little, we got scared of our condition

We got scared of our condition

When we thought about ourselves, we felt ashamed of ourselves

When we thought of this, we got scared

Where have we arrived

We have arrived

In the search for life, how close we have come to death
