Lyrics with English transaltion of song Kya Se Kya Ho Gaya Bewafa from Guide
What has happened from what (how drastically things have changed)
O unfaithful one, in your love
What all did I desire, what all did I get
O unfaithful one, in your love
Come now, at least the sweet illusion has broken
I have come to know what true beauty is
Come now, at least the sweet illusion has broken
I have come to know what true beauty is
That which the world calls love
What a thing it is, what a calamity it is
What all has the heart not endured
O unfaithful one, in your love
What all did I desire, what all did I get
O unfaithful one, in your love
Between your heart and mine
Now there are distances of centuries
Between your heart and mine
Now there are distances of centuries
Who will believe that you and I once walked together on the same path
What more is there to happen
O unfaithful one, in your love
What has happened from what (how drastically things have changed)
O unfaithful one, in your love
Some fascinating behind‑the‑scenes and fun facts about Guide
Dev Anand bought the rights in a very filmy way While returning from the Berlin Film Festival in 1962 (promoting Hum Dono), Dev Anand picked up R.K. Narayan's novel The Guide from an airport bookstore in London.
He loved it so much that he decided to turn it into a film
Dev Anand produced both a Hindi and an English version
It was made in two completely different versions
There was a Hindi version (the iconic one we all love, directed by Vijay Anand) and an English version (The Guide, directed by American filmmaker Tad Danielewski and scripted by Nobel laureate Pearl S. Buck).
The English one flopped in the US and vanished for decades (it resurfaced much later and was even screened at Cannes in 2007).
Dev Anand's first color film
Guide marked Dev Anand's debut in full color cinema. Before that, most of his hits were in black and white.
Location Choices:
Much of the film was shot in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, giving it a rich backdrop of temples, ghats, and rural landscapes.
S.D. Burman was seriously ill but still delivered magic
The legendary music director fell very sick during the making of the film. Dev Anand waited patiently for his favorite composer (Burman) to recover rather than replace him.
The result? Timeless tracks like "Piya Tose Naina Lage Re", "Gaata Rahe Mera Dil", and "Wahan Kaun Hai Tera" — pure gold
It swept Filmfare Awards like never before
Guide bagged 7 Filmfare Awards, including the big four:
Best Film, Best Director (Vijay Anand), Best Actor (Dev Anand), and Best Actress (Waheeda Rehman).
It was the first film in Filmfare history to win all four major categories in one go!
Only film where Dev Anand's character dies — In most Dev Anand movies, his character survives with style and charm. In Guide, Raju meets a poignant end — making the climax even more emotional and unforgettable.
Progressive and bold movie -
The story dealt with themes like a married woman leaving her husband, an extramarital affair, redemption, and spiritual awakening
Censorship Concerns:
The portrayal of Rosie leaving her husband was controversial in 1960s India.
The film faced resistance but ultimately passed
R. K. Narayan’s Displeasure
The novelist whose book inspired the film was unhappy with the adaptation. He felt the movie strayed too far from his original story
