Full List BJP Govt  Bans 25  Apps OTT Platforms for obscene content

The Indian government has recently banned several OTT platforms, including Ullu, ALTT, Desiflix, and others, for hosting obscene and sexually explicit content, often described as "soft porn." 

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) issued directives to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block access to approximately 25 apps and websites, citing violations of the Information Technology Act, 2000, IT Rules, 2021, and other laws like Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986. 
These platforms were criticized for streaming erotic web series 

Here's the full list of 25 OTT platforms that were officially banned by the Indian government on July 25, 2025 for violating content laws related to obscenity and indecent representation:

This action is part of a broader crackdown, with a similar ban in March 2024 targeting 18 other platforms like Besharams and Voovi. 

Why Were These Platforms Banned?
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) cited:
Section 67 & 67A of the IT Act, 2000: Prohibits electronic transmission of obscene or sexually explicit material
Section 294 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023: Addresses obscene acts and expressions
Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986: Bans degrading portrayals of women

These platforms were accused of:
Streaming soft porn disguised as web series
Promoting vulgar teacher-student or family-based adult plots
Violating public decency and morality standards

What’s Blocked?
ISPs across India were directed to block access to:
OTT apps like Ullu, ALTT, Big Shots, Desiflix, NeonX, MoodX, Boomex, Feneo
Related websites and social media handles used for promotion
Some of these apps had millions of downloads and were easily accessible on app stores before the ban.
