Confirmed Game of Thrones Season 8 will be final
HBO has confirmed that Game of Thrones’ eighth season will be its last.
Game of Thrones ranks as HBO's most-watched and longest running series.
The recently concluded sixth season wrapped with an average of 25 million total viewers across multiple plays, DVR and non-linear viewing.
Game of Thrones returns sometime in summer 2017 for season 7, which will get seven episodes. Season 8 could get as few as six.
Game of thrones received 23 prime-time 2016 Emmy nominations, more than any other show
Casey Bloys, the new programming chief at HBO, told reporters Saturday morning that, as expected, the smash fantasy series based on the novels of George R.R. Martin will be gone after two more seasons.
“If I could get them to do more, I would take 10 seasons,” Bloys told reporters at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour in Beverly Hills.
Bloys also confirmed that Game of Thrones likely won’t be up for any Emmy Awards next year, because of season 7's production delays to film in winter. Because, you know, “Winter is Here” and all.
Still there is confusion Season 8 will be last or not as its No. 1 serial and it will be difficult for HBO to find a serial as popular as Game of Thrones which is on way to become World No. 1 TV show
