Gatiman Express, the country's fastest train, will start plying between Agra and Delhi from April 5, 2016

Indian Railways started to work on this Fastest Train Project from year 2010.

The railways applied for safety certificate from Commission of Railway Safety to start the service

Media reported that The train may be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon and to be numbered 12049/50

Now as per current reports Gatiman Express, the country's fastest train, will start plying between Agra and Delhi from April 5, 2016

Running at a speed of 160 km/hr., the Gatimaan Express will be the fastest train in India.

Gatiman Express will take one hour and forty minutes to complete the journey that is 188 KM or 195 KM.

A semi-bullet train, Gatimaan Express will operate on 6 days a week except on Friday.
Gatimaan Express will leave Nizamuddin railway station at 8.10 am and reach Agra Cantt. at 9.50 am. In the return, the train will depart from Agra at 5.50 pm to reach Nizamuddin at 7.30 pm.

It will be flagged by railway minister Suresh Prabhu on April 5,2016 from Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi.

Each coach costs a staggering Rs 2.5 crore.
The train will have 12 Coaches.

The train will have a high-power emergency braking system, automatic fire alarm, GPS-based passenger information system and sliding doors in the coaches.

Two children were run over and killed by Gatiman Express, India’s first semi-high speed train, at Runakta station near Mathura during its trial run.
The children were probably crossing the tracks when the incident occurred.
The children were identified as 10-year-old Chotu and 8-year-old Arvind.
