Windows 10 Released Date Important Facts about Pricing of OS Windows 10

Microsoft will release Windows 10, an upgrade to its operating system, on 29 July 2015.

It will be released in 190 markets

The upgrade will be offered free to users running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

The free offer will be available for the first year after it is released.

For those eligible for the free upgrade, the process will only grant you an equitable version of the software.

That means if you had Windows 7 Home, you get Windows 10 Home. If you had Windows 8.1 Pro, you get Windows 10 Pro

Those "who want to be among the first in line for the free Windows 10 upgrade can reserve a free copy in the coming weeks".

To do so, an icon will come up in the system tray at the bottom right hand corner of the screen — clicking on it will bring up the reservation process

As per media reports Windows XP and Vista users will have to buy new versions of the operating system

A copy of Windows 10 Home will run $119, while Windows 10 Pro will cost $199.

For those who wish to upgrade from the Home edition to the Pro edition, a Windows 10 Pro Pack will cost $99.

Windows 10 comes packed with new features, such as a redesigned Start menu, the Cortana voice assistant and a new browser called Edge,

Microsoft said in its announcement that "once a Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, Microsoft will continue to keep it current for the supported lifetime of the device — at no cost".

I applaud their future free auto upgrade policy. But I hope the Edge browser is not a redesigned IE browser!
