Shiv Sena demands privilege motion against Shobhaa De Tweet on Marathi Films

Shiv Sena MLA has given a privilege motion in Assembly against columnist Shobhaa De seeking an apology from her regarding her tweets on a Maharashtra government order on Marathi films

BJP government made it compulsory for the multiplexes to dedicate at least one screen to Marathi films during the peak business hours of 6 pm to 9 pm every day.

After that Shobhaa De tweeted regarding this.

Shobhaa De had tweeted yesterday:
"No more popcorn at multiplexes in Mumbai?
Dahi misal and vada pav only.
To go better with the Marathi movies at prime time."

"Devendra Fadnavis is at it again!!!From beef to movies.
This is not the Maharashtra we all love! Nako!Nako!
Yeh sab roko! I love Marathi movies.
Let me decide when and where to watch them, Devendra Fadnavis.
This is nothing but Dadagiri (sic),"

In a tweet reacting to the privilege notice, Ms De said, "Now a privilege motion demanding an apology from me? Come on! I am a proud Maharashtrian and love Marathi films. Always have. Always will!"

One more wrong move by BJP government.

It is advisable to encourage native film makers also.

I think this rule is there in Bengaluru too! All Kannada films are tax free, if I am correct. Still even Kannada people don't go there but watch Hindi and Tamil movies. Compulsion will not solve the problem. If good movies are there in Marathi, people will definitely flock there.
