Former PM Manmohan Singh summoned as accused in coal scam case

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday was summoned as an accused by a special court in connection with the coal block allocation case involving KM Birla-owned Hindalco.

Case - allocation of Talabira-II block to Hindalco when Manmohan Singh held the additional charge of coal portfolio.

Court took the cognizance of case under the following sections –
Sections 120B, 409 of the IPC and under Sections 13(1)(c) and 13(1)(d)(3) of prevention of corruption act.

Special Court summoned following people in connection with this coal block allocation case.

Hindalco official CEO Shubhendu Amitabh

Hindalco official -Managing Director D Bhattacharya

Former PM Manmohan Singh

The Court summoned former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as an accused and asked him to appear before it on April 8
