Education –
In his childhood, Devendra joined the RSS Shakha at Trikoni Park.
Devendra attended Dharampeth Jr. College in the year 1986–87
after which he completed a 5-year law degree from Law College Nagpur. From 1986–89, he was an active member of ABVP.
Post Graduate Degree in Business Management and a Diploma in Methods and Techniques of Project Management from D.S.E. Berlin.

Father and Mother –
His father, Gangadhar Fadnavis, was an MLC from Nagpur (first with Jan Sangh, later Janata Party, and BJP) who died of cancer in 1987.

His mother, Sarita Fadnavis, belonged to the Kaloti family from Amravati.
She was the Director of Vidarbh Housing Credit Society.

Political career –

His political career commenced in the early nineties where he joined the BJP Maharashtra as a Ward President, BJYM.
Devendra became the youngest municipal corporator of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation at the age of 21 and remained corporator for two consecutive terms, 1992 and 1997.

He also has the distinction of being the second youngest Mayor in India, as Mayor of Nagpur at 27 years of age, in 1997.

He is also the only person to be re-elected as the Mayor in Council of the State of Maharashtra.

Since 1999, he has been elected Member of the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra State, representing Nagpur.


He has served as an elected member in the Municipal Corporation of Nagpur for two consecutive terms, in 1992 and 1997.

He has the distinction of being the Second youngest Mayor in India and the youngest Mayor in Nagpur, when he served as the Mayor of Nagpur.

He was also the only person to be re-elected and serve as the first ‘Mayor in Council’ of the State of Maharashtra.

He has been elected Member of the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra State, representing Nagpur, since, 1999.

Devendra Fadnavis on Friday took oath as the 27th Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the first from BJP in the state, at a grand function in Mumbai's wankhade stadium.
He is the 18th person to hold the post.
He will also be the fourth politician from Vidarbha region to become CM and at 44, the second youngest person to hold the top post in Maharashtra.
