Pune University to be renamed as Savitribai Phule Pune University

As per media reports Maharashtra Congress NCP government has decided cleared the higher and technical education department's proposal of renaming University of Pune (UoP) as Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Now government will table the bill in the state legislature to amend the Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994 to reflect the change in the schedule relating to state universities.

Or other option is that bring in an ordinance

Savitribai Phule was a great lady
With the help, encouragement of her husband and reformer Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, she became the youngest teacher in the country, at age 17,

She established the country's first school for girls at Bhide Wada in Pune in 1848.

Politicians must understand that with the name there is a history thus they should avoid changing the name

Better option was starting a new IIT or IIM or Medical College in the name of Savitribai Phule

But to make or develop a great historical institution it takes honesty and hard work of years

Easy option is just change the name

What is the reward for the teachers who work hard in that university so that it became famous?

Who will reap the benefits of name change?

The celebrity, social worker or a politician?
