AAP Member Ashok Jain Wins Right to Recall Election 1st Right to Recall Referendum

What is Right to Recall?

Right to recall is an election process in which elected candidate goes for the Poll once again so citizens can vote and confirm his election.

In Rajasthan 1st ever Right to Recall referendum was held

Ashok Jain is the son of freedom fighter from Hadauti region, Seth Motilal Jain.

He had become the chairman of Mangrol municipality in direct elections as an independent candidate in November 2009.

Last Month he Joined AAP in Delhi.
Aam Aadmi Party of Arvind Kejriwal.

The Rajasthan Municipalities Bill 2011 has made the Right to Recall Referendum mandatory for recalling elected representatives of municipalities who lose the no-confidence motion.

Ashok Jain had lost the no-confidence motion at the hands of 17 out of 20 corporators in January 2012.

Referendum was held to check to decide whether Ashok Jain (62), the chairman of the Mangrol municipality, should be retained or recalled from the Post.

On Thursday Polling was held

Total No. of Votes in Municipality = 16,735

No. of votes casted by =   10,998

Ashok Jain required more than 50% votes to win election

Ashok Jain received 7,243 votes in his favor while 3,755 votes were cast against him.

Thus Ashok Jain won by a margin of 3,488 votes.
