US California Bans gay cure conversion therapy for children
California has become the first state in the US to ban therapy that tries to turn gay teens straight.
The bill, sponsored by state senator Ted Lieu, bars mental health providers "from engaging in sexual orientation change efforts".
Governor Jerry Brown signed Senate Bill 1172 , which prohibits doctors from performing any type of conversion therapy on lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender minors.
In a press release Clarissa Filgioun, board president of Equality California, said: 'Governor Brown today reaffirmed what medical and mental health organizations have made clear:
Efforts to change minors' sexual orientation are not therapy,
they are the relics of prejudice and abuse that have inflicted untold harm on young lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Californians.'
What is Gay Cure Therapy?
It is attempt to make boys straight , forcefully trying to make homosexual boys straight boys
Conversion therapy is an attempt to change the sexual orientation of a subject from homosexual or bisexual to heterosexual.
The American Psychiatric Association has condemned psychiatric "treatment" which is "based upon the assumption that homosexuality per se is a mental disorder or based upon the a priori assumption that a patient should change his/her sexual homosexual orientation."
It states that, "Ethical practitioners refrain from attempts to change individuals' sexual orientation."
It also states that political and moral debates over the integration of gays and lesbians into the mainstream of American society have obscured scientific data about changing sexual orientation "by calling into question the motives and even the character of individuals on both sides of the issue.

interesting bill...
India too should come up with some bold bills
It's about time a stance was taken against this latest form of hate mongering hiding behind a religious facade. Freedom of religion should not be interpreted as freedom to hate others whoa re not like yourself.
@Anonymous
No law gives permission to torture kids for parents belief.
