CBI Expenditure Reduced by 9%. Do you think Budget Cut will reduce the performance of CBI by 9%?

CBI Expenditure Reduced by 9%. Do you think Budget Cut will
reduce the performance of CBI by 9%?

Few days back Budget 2011 was announced.
In Budget 2011 what CBI got?
What CBI was awarded by Government?

In Budget 2011 government of India reduced the expenditure of CBI by 9%
CBI was awarded a 9% budget cut.

CBI was allocated only Rs318.28 crore as opposed to Rs350.14 crore last year.
The amount was allocated for establishment-related expenditure of CBI.

Currently CBI is working at half its strength.
The agency has about 6,000 personnel on its rolls and each investigating officer handles around 25-30 cases at any given point.

30% of CBI’s senior posts (20% superintendent of police and 10% sub-inspector posts) were vacant, Last Month Supreme Court directed the government to fill the posts immediately and file an action-taken report within four weeks.

It’s necessary that the budget of CBI should never be reduced it will affect their functioning.

People will say that CBI does not function properly, or do not have conviction rate
Whatever case may be this is not the solution.

Always remember CBI is not independent, it has to work under the Government.

BK chowla,,
thanks.
But reducing expenses will damage moral.

The Budget needs to be passed by the parliament.
There are other unfavourable things in budget like reduction of duties of cotton yarns and steel (two strong areas of India).

An informative post.Reduction in CBI's budget allocation may certainly affect its efficiency and morale.

Very informative post. It won't make any difference to CBI...they got a lot of money anyway.

i think CBI has lost its credibility over period of time... so a cut in their budget is not going to be an issue for any body....
