Lyrics of Qawali Chadhta Suraj Dhire Dhire with English translation

huye naamwar benishan kaise kaise
Look how the world forgot the names signs of famous people

Zamin kha gayee naujawan kaise kaise
Once who were heroes look now they are in graves, the grave has eaten them

aaj jawaani par itranewale kal pacthhtayega
Today Oh Man Proud of your youth tomorrow you will repent, regret

aaj jawaani par itranewale kal pacthhtayega
Today Oh Man Proud of your youth tomorrow you will repent, regret

chadhta suraj dhire dhire dhalta hain dhal jayega
The rising sun will set slowly, Sun will set
Slowly rising upwards Sun will slowly move to downwards

chadhta suraj dhire dhire dhalta hain dhal jayega
The  sun, which is rising slowly, will finally set

dhal jayega dhal jayega
will finally set will finally set

dhal jayega dhal jayega
will finally set will finally set

Tu yaha musafir hain, yeh saray panee hain
You are just a guest, visitor, here this world is just an illusion

char roz kee mehman teri zindagaani hai
A guest for a few days that is what your life is
childhood, youth old age, and death

teri zindagaani hai
That’s is your life

teri zindagaani hai
That’s is your life

Zun, zamin zar jevar kuchh naa sath jayega
Moonlight, Ego , Identity, Gold, Jewellery nothing is going to  accompany you

khaali hath aaya hain khalee hath jayega
You came here empty handed, you will go empty handed

khaali hath jayega
You will go empty handed

khaali hath jayega
You will go empty handed

jaan kar bhi  anjana ban raha hai deewane
You know this truth but still you are behaving like ignorant idiot

Apni umr fanni  par  tan raha hain deewane
Oh, mad man you are proud of your life, which is perishable

tan raha hain deewane
You are feeling proud

tan raha hain deewane
You are feeling proud

iss kadrr  tu  khoya hain iss jahan ke mele mein
The way you are lost in this world , daily pleasures, in this maze

tu  khuda ko bhula hain, fakr ke  iss jhamele mein
You forgot  the nature in the game of rich and poor, in tensions of poverty and rich

aaj tak yeh dekha hain panewala khota hain
Until now, we have seen that the one who gets one day he loses it

zindagi ko jo samjha zindagi pe rota hain
the one who understood the life he cries for the painful life of people

zindagi pe rota hain
he cries for the painful life of people

zindagi pe rota hain
he cries for the painful life of people

mitne wali duniya  kaa aitbar karta hain
You trust the world, which will be destroyed one day
World, society, people etc.

kya samajh ke tu aakhir isa se pyar karta hain
Thinking what , why do you love this life, this world

Isa se pyar karta hain
You love this life, this world

Isa se pyar karta hain
You love this life, this world

apni apni  fikro mein  jo bhi hain woh uljha hain
Everyone is trapped in his own entanglement, complications

jo bhi hain woh uljha hain
Everyone who is present is in entanglement

zindagi haqeeqat  mein  kya hain kaun samjha hain
In reality what is the life who has understood it

kya hain kaun samjha hain
what is life who has understood it

aaj samajhle aaj samajhle kal yeh mauka hath naa tere aayega
Understood it today control yourself tomorrow you will not get this chance opportunity

woh gaflat kee nind mein sone wale dhoka khayega
Those who are sleeping today without thinking tomorrow you will get cheated or fooled

chadhta suraj dhire dhire dhalta hain dhal jayega
The rising sun will set slowly, Sun will set
Slowly rising upwards Sun will slowly move to downwards

chadhta suraj dhire dhire dhalta hain dhal jayega
The rising sun will set slowly, Sun will set
Slowly rising upwards Sun will slowly move to downwards

dhal jayega dhal jayega
will finally set will finally set

dhal jayega dhal jayega
will finally set will finally set

maut ne jamane ko yeh sama dikh dala
The death has shown the world various seasons, realities

kaise kaise rustom  ko khak me mila dala
look how it has vanquished those who were once powerful or heroes

khak me mila dala
turned them into ashes

khak me mila dala
turned them into ashes

yaad rakh sikander ke  hosle toh aali thhey
Remember the king Sikander or Alexander was fearless and bravest

jab gaya tha duniya se dono hath khaali  thhey
But when he died he went empty handed his both hands were empty

dono hath khaali thhey
His both hands were empty

dono hath khaali thhey
His both hands were empty

Ab na woh halaku hain aur naa uske saathi hain
Now there is neither Hulk nor his stooges

Jung, julus porus hain aur naa uske haathi  hain
Now there is no war , procession, or porus the enemy of Alexander nor their elephants

aur naa uske haathi  hain
and neither are their elephants

aur naa uske haathi  hain
and neither are their elephants

kal jo tanke chalte thhey apni shano shaukat parr
Yesterday those who showed, walked showing
their strength and money, lavish style to world

shamma tak nahi jalti aaj unki durbath parr
today not even a candle burns on their graves

aaj unkee durbath parr
on their grave

aaj unkee durbath parr
on their grave

adna ho ya aala ho, sabko laut jaana hain
short or tall , rich or poor one day everyone has to return to dust, grave

sabko laut jaana hain
everyone has to return to dust, grave

sabko laut jaana hain
everyone has to return to dust, grave

Muflison tawanjan ka, kabr hi thikaana hain
Bankrupt or rich the final destination of  both is grave

kabr hi thikaana hain
Grave is the address

kabr hi thikaana hain
Grave is the address

jaisee karni Jaisi karni waisi bharni aaj kiya kal payega
As you sow , so you reap
Today what you did  tomorrow you will get it in return
Today’s actions return tomorrow

sar ko uthakar chalne waale, ek din thokar khayegaa
The one who walks in pride, walk with his neck tilted upwards will one day fall

chadhta suraj dhire dhire dhalta hain dhal jayega
The rising sun will set slowly, Sun will set
Slowly rising upwards Sun will slowly move to downwards

chadhta suraj dhire dhire dhalta hain dhal jayega
The  sun, which is rising slowly, will finally set

dhal jayega dhal jayega
will finally set will finally set

dhal jayega dhal jayega
will finally set will finally set

maut sabko aani hain kaun isse chhoota  hain
everyone one has to die no one has ever managed to avoid death

tu fanaa nahin hoga, yeh khayal jhoota hain
The thought that death will not come to you is false one

yeh khayal jhoota hain
This thought is a sweet lie

yeh khayal jhoota hain
This thought is a sweet lie

saans toot-te hi sab, rishte toot jayenge
the moment breath will stop so will all relationships will cease, break

baap, maa, behen, biwi, bacchhe chhoot jayenge
Father,Mother,Sister,Wife,Children, all will stay behind [ You will be alone ]

bacchhe chhoot jayenge
Children all will be left behind

bacchhe chhoot jayenge
Children all will be left  behind

tere jitne hain bhai wakt kaa chalan denge
All your brothers will bide their time

chheen kar teri daulat do hi gaz kafan denge
They will fight and take your wealth and will you give you only six feet of  space for your grave

do hi gaz kafan denge
will give six feet of grave

do hi gaz kafan denge
will give six feet of grave

jinko apna kehta hain kab yeh tere saathi  hain
The once whom you call your own, but when they belonged to you

kabr hain teri manzil, aur yeh baraati hain
Grave is your final destination and all those are guests,
 accompanying your funeral procession

laa ke kabr mein tujhko, qurqabat daalenge
They will bring you to the grave and will heap mud on your face , grave

apne hatho se tere muh pe khak dalenge
With their own hands, they will throw put dust on you

muh pe khak dalenge
will throw dust on your face, on your grave

muh pe khak dalenge
will throw dust on your face, on your grave

Teri saari ulfat ko,khaak mein mila denge
All your name and fame will be destroyed by them

tere chahanewale kal tujhe bhula denge
The once who loved you tomorrow they  will forget you

kal tujhe bhula denge
tomorrow they will forget you

kal tujhe bhula denge
tomorrow they will forget you

isliye yeh kehta hu khub soch ley dil me
This is reason I tell you think lot in your heart

kyon fasaye baitha hain, jaan apni mushkil mein
why have your stuck your life in this mess

jaan apni mushkil mein
life in trouble,difficulties

jaan apni mushkil mein
life in trouble,difficulties

kar gunaho se tauba aake bat sambhal jaye
Stop doing the crimes, corruption, come back to realities

aake bat sambhal jaye
come back to realities

dum kaa kya bharosa hain janey kab nikal jaye
life breath is uncertain it can leave any moment

janey kab nikal jaye
do not know when it might leave

janey kab nikal jaye
do not know when it might leave

Mutthi bandh ke aane wale, haath pasaare jayega
The one who came here with clasped fingers, you will go with open palms

dhan daulat jagir se tune kya paya, kya payega
House, wealth, property what you got from them , what you will get from them

chadhta suraj dhire dhire dhalta hain dhal jayega
The rising sun will set slowly, Sun will set
Slowly rising upwards Sun will slowly move to downwards

chadhta suraj dhire dhire dhalta hain dhal jayega
The rising sun will set slowly, Sun will set
Slowly rising upwards Sun will slowly move to downwards

Yes,finally we'll set and settle in grave. In Malayalam a filmy song says-I am an orphan and a beggar, but the owner of six feet land.Nice poem and the translation is comprehensive.

I think this is the longest song you've ever posted.

A fine song.
I keep reminded of this song automatically. Probably Indian song. Suraj is Indian word.
Foreigners will say it is not qawwali.
