Tax Evasion Ex-Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi gets Jail punishment India saves such criminals

Italy's former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was sentenced to four years in prison for tax fraud connected to his Mediaset television channels Friday, and was banned from holding public office for three years by a Milan court.

Berlusconi was accused of having artificially inflated the price of film distribution rights bought by shell companies, then selling these back to his Mediaset Empire.

The tax scam helped to create secret overseas accounts and reduce profits to pay fewer taxes in Italy.

Now Indian government has the list of corrupt Indians who got bank accounts in other countries by doing this they evaded taxes.

But Indian Government is not ready to publish names of such Indians nor did they get any punishment.

Just fine, sorry I do not consider it as a punishment,  opening bank account in other nation, clearly proves the  criminal intent of crime doer, it is not innocent  mistake,  it is  a well-planned  murder and rape  thus  such crimes deserves the  Jail Punishment.

Tax evasion and only fine is a big loophole which encourages every Indian to do crime, as there is no punishment, if found there will a fine after 10 or 25 years.

So do the crime, evade the taxes and enjoy the money as everyone is thief from a top to bottom and right to left every one is a thief

Thus, Indian tax system needs to be reformed and it should be very simple with very hard punishment  if you are guilty, if you evade tax go to Jail or prove it’s not your money , money is in  your name in your bank and you and your family is enjoying fruits so prove no tax evasion or  go to Jail.

this is the basic difference in developed and developing economies...here we protect such people and punish the persons who unearthed any fraud...
