Fact Check Does Cow is only animal that only inhales and Exhales Oxygen

Fact Check Does Cow is only animal that only inhales and Exhales Oxygen
Uttarakhand Animal Husbandry Minister Rekha Arya said the cow is the "only animal that not only inhales oxygen, but also exhales it".

Her remarks came on the floor of the Uttarakhand Assembly on Wednesday when a resolution was passed, seeking the status of "rashtra mata" (mother of the nation) for the cow.

Last year Rajasthan Education Minister Vasudev Devnani  said that "Gai ekmatra prani hai jo oxygen grahan karta hai, aur oxygen hee chodta hai (The cow is the only animal that takes in oxygen and also releases oxygen)."

Now let us fact check Does Cow is only animal that  only inhales and Exhales Oxygen

Meaning of Inhale - to draw (breath) into the lungs; breathe in
To draw air into the lungs in the process of respiration

Meaning of Exhale - to breathe out; emit (air, vapor, sound, etc.)
To expel air in the process of respiration:

UN Food and Agricultural Organization' report in 2006  said livestock  including cows are responsible for large amounts of  Greenhouse Gas [GHG] emissions.

Greenhouse gases are those that absorb and emit infrared radiation in the wavelength range emitted by Earth.[1] In order, the most abundant greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere are:

a-Water vapor (H2O)
b-Carbon dioxide (CO2)
c-Methane (CH4)
d-Nitrous oxide (N2O)
e-Ozone (O3)
f-Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)
g-Hydrofluorocarbons (incl. HCFCs and HFCs)

If greenhouse gases continue to increase at the current rate Earth's surface temperature could exceed historical values as early as 2047, with potentially harmful effects on ecosystems, biodiversity and human livelihoods

How does a cow breath?
The physiology of a cow's respiration system is exactly the same as a human's or any other mammal. Oxygen is taken into the lungs via expansion of the lungs by the downward force exerted by the diaphragm, oxygen is exchanged with carbon dioxide at the capillary level in the alveoli of the lungs, and carbon dioxide is released outside by exhaling, when the diaphragm exerts and upward force and the lungs contract. This process repeats throughout the cow's life, and is an involuntary movement that keeps her alive.

human's or any other mammal breathe in air which is actually a mix of many different gases. Oxygen is the portion of the air that is absorbed through our lungs into our blood stream.

Does cow exhale oxygen after inhaling it?
Yes, but not as O2. Cows, just like us humans, exhale CO2, which is carbon dioxide, a molecule that has oxygen with a carbon atom attached.

Do cows breath out oxygen?
Answer is No but Yes  in the form of carbon dioxide, with contains two atoms of oxygen and one of carbon. Cows don't breathe out the pure form of oxygen; they breathe in oxygen as well as nitrogen from the atmosphere.

As per science, there is no animal on earth that exhales oxygen (except release of excess oxygen.

"Of the 21 per cent oxygen we inhale, our body utilizes hardly 4-5 per cent of it. Rest is released. We exhale carbon dioxide and other gases along with the residual oxygen. This process stands same for all living beings, including cow."

According to Encyclopedia Britannica,"Respiratory system is the system in living organisms that takes up oxygen and discharges carbon dioxide in order to satisfy energy requirements. In the living organism, energy is liberated, along with carbon dioxide, through the oxidation of molecules containing carbon."

Gas Breathing Table -
Gass exchanged during breathing
Gas name - Oxygen
Inhaled air (%) - 21
Exhaled air (%) -16

Gas name - Carbon dioxide
Inhaled air (%) - 0.04
Exhaled air (%) - 4

Gas name - Nitrogen
Inhaled air (%) - 79
Exhaled air (%) - 79

Fact Check - not only the cow but every mammal exhales oxygen, so nothing is special about Cow and her breathing. Humans and mammals breathe in oxygen and we breathe out carbon dioxide. Plants are the opposite. They breathe in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen. We give them carbon dioxide and they give us oxygen!! That's how we breathe

Fact Check – Cow Breathe Inhale Exhale Oxygen
