How to check purity of honey at home

How to check purity of honey at home

How to verify honey is pure or adulterated

Now a days it has become very difficult to find pure honey bottle

One cannot trust even branded honey sellers

Following are the easy ways, methods to check test the purity of honey

1-
Honey dissolving test to verify purity of honey

Required tools -

a)1 glass of water

b)One or two tablespoon honey

c)Spoon

Empty the honey into the water.
If the honey is impure, it will dissolve in the water-
The most common additive to honey is syrup of jaggery, which dissolves.

Use spoon stir the water and if honey is impure water will change color and honey and water both will get mixed

If honey is pure, the honey will stick together and sink as a solid lump to the bottom of the glass.

Pure honey added to water at room temperature does not dissolve and its strands settle down at the bottom without making bubbles

Pure honey even if kept for a long time will never crystalize

If pure honey gets crystalized means it is not pure honey

2-
Honey absorption test

Pour a few drops of honey on blotting paper and observe whether or not it is absorbed.
If it’s absorbed, the honey’s not pure.

Pour a little bit of honey on a white cloth, then wash the cloth.
If there is any stain left by the honey, it is probably not pure.

3-
Honey burning test –

A cotton wick dipped in pure honey when lighted with a matchstick burns and shows the purity of honey.
If adulterated, the presence of water will not allow the honey to burn, if it does, it will produce a cracking sound.

Remember pure honey label on a honey bottle does not guarantee the honey inside bottle is pure
Regarding Honey one cannot trust any company
