Ramesh Prabhu–Gameskraft F&O Trading Scandal, with timeline, facts, and charges
Ramesh Prabhu, aged 47 and a resident of Hebbal, Bengaluru, served as the Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Gameskraft Technologies, a prominent Bengaluru-based real-money online gaming company known for platforms offering games like rummy and ludo. He joined the company in 2018 and was responsible for overseeing financial operations.
Prabhu has come under intense scrutiny for allegedly diverting company funds to personal futures and options (F&O) trading activities, resulting in massive losses for the firm.
The Scandal: Fund Diversion and Rs 250 Crore LossAccording to a First Information Report (FIR) filed by Gameskraft, Prabhu siphoned off approximately Rs 250 crore from company accounts over a period of nearly five years.
He allegedly routed the funds through personal bank accounts, including one at RBL Bank, while falsifying records to disguise the transactions as legitimate investments in the company's books.
These funds were then used for high-risk F&O trading in the stock market, leading to uninsured losses of over Rs 250 crore due to poor trading outcomes.
The misconduct is described as a "serious breach of trust" in the FIR, with charges including criminal breach of trust, theft, forgery, and falsification of accounts under the Indian Penal Code.
Gameskraft, which operates in the competitive real-money gaming sector, discovered the irregularities during an internal audit, prompting a forensic investigation.
The company has stated that the losses are uninsured and have deepened its financial crisis amid broader regulatory challenges in the online gaming industry.
Ramesh Prabhu joined Gameskraft Technologies as Group CFO in 2018, taking charge of the company’s financial operations.
From approximately 2020 to 2025 (covering FY20–FY25), Prabhu allegedly diverted around Rs 250 crore of company funds to personal futures and options (F&O) trading over a span of four to five years.
He reportedly disguised these transactions as legitimate investments in the company’s books while routing the funds through personal bank accounts, leading to losses of over Rs 250 crore due to poor trading outcomes.
On March 5, 2025, Prabhu sent a voluntary confession email to Gameskraft’s management, admitting to the misuse of funds and acknowledging it as a serious breach of trust, which shocked the company and triggered an internal investigation.
In August 2025, following the initial probe, Gameskraft terminated Prabhu’s employment.
On September 9, 2025, Gulshan Yadav, Assistant Vice-President at Gameskraft, filed a police complaint at Marathahalli police station in Bengaluru, resulting in a First Information Report (FIR) being registered against Prabhu.
As of September 16, 2025, the scandal became public through media reports, with Bengaluru City Police actively investigating the case while Gameskraft pursues a forensic audit and legal action to recover the siphoned funds.
