Principal photography took place in Jaipur in February 2020. After shooting a chunk on sets the filming moved to Wai, Maharashtra to recreate wilderness. A huge set for Uzbekistan was recreated in Mumbai.

Few Indian started objecting to the series soon after its trailer popped on the internet, accusing the makers of glorifying the king Babur However, Hotstar rejected grievance complaints against the series 'The Empire' which led to the trend - 'Uninstall Hotstar.'

 

The grievance officer appointed under Information Technology (Guidelines for intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 received complaints about the series but the officer rejected them claiming that the series is not glorifying Babur.

Hotstar claimed that the web series does not make reference to the 2019 Supreme Court judgement in favor of Ram Lalla Virajman at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple where the disputed structure, often referred to as Babri Masjid, stood.

Story Plot of the series The Empire –

The series is based on the book Empire of the Moghul by Alex Rutherford It tells the story of Mughal Emperor Babar. The story starts in ‘Farghana’ where Young Babar was sworn as the King after the death of his father.  

The eight episodes chronicle different phases of Babur’s life

Babur’s story begins with the kingdoms of Samarkand and Fergana

His father tells him that far away from here is Hindkush, Hindustan which is one of the beautiful places in the world after the death of the father, 14-year-old Babar is placed on the throne of Fargana by Nani (Shabana Azmi), now story starts, which ends with Babar becoming king of Delhi, Hindkush, India and his death and declaring of his heir.

 

Review Verdict - 

Do not watch this series as a Historical Drama, you will get nothing by watching this series.

When I started to watch this series, I started to feel that the web series is just like a Bollywood movie. Never got the feeling that I am watching Historic Drama

Be ready to see song and dance in series and a Bollywood style love story with war.

Watch this series just as an entertainment series

The empire series just shows life of King Babar in a Bollywood style

But we must realize the problems and dangers face by the web series makers in India

In Today’s times it is very difficult to make any good historical web series or a movie in India.
