4 Home Ministry Officials Suspended for renewal FCRA license of Dr.Zakir Naik's NGO

TOI reported that Four home ministry officials have been suspended for alleged irregularities in renewal of FCRA license of Dr.Zakir Naik's NGO

The Union home ministry has suspended four officials for alleged irregularities in renewal of FCRA license of Scholar Islamic Preacher Dr. Zakir Naik's+ NGO, Islamic Research Foundation (IRF).

The officials, whose names and ranks were not known immediately, were suspended after the home ministry found that Dr. Naik's NGO Islamic Research Foundation's FCRA license was renewed recently despite several ongoing probe against him.

"The four officials were suspended with immediate effect for their alleged role in the renewal of the FCRA license of Dr.Naik's NGO," a home ministry official said.

Hindu reported that Though the renewal was done about 10 days ago, the Home Ministry on Thursday suspended three officials — an undersecretary and two section officers, who had given the go-ahead for the renewal. The suspensions came after Mr. Naik’s spokesperson informed the media about the renewal in Mumbai.
Minister of State (Home) Kiren Rijiju confirmed the suspension of the three officials to The Hindu.

Notwithstanding the claims made by the government that it was gathering evidence to prosecute Islamic preacher Zakir Naik under the anti-terror law, the Home Ministry has renewed the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licence of Mr. Naik’s NGO on August 19.
