How to get Twitter Account Verified Get a Twitter Blue Badge

From Today Twitter has changed its policy and now anyone can request to be verified and get a twitter blue badge.

Up until now, Twitter verified only selected accounts, such as those belonging to political leaders, actors, stand-up comedians, journalists, and sports persons.
Among millions of users, Twitter has only about 187,000 verified accounts.
In short only rich and famous people were given the verified accounts.

Below are some of the pre-requisites for a Twitter verification.

1-A verified phone number
2-Your full name on the profile
3-A confirmed email address
4-A bio
5-A profile photo
6-A header photo
7-A birthday (for accounts that are not company, brand, or organization accounts)
8-A website
9-Tweets set as public in Tweet privacy settings

Before starting the online verification process, make sure your profile is completely filled out with your basic information, including a profile photo, header photo, bio, birthday, verified phone number, email address and website.

You will also need to set your tweets to public rather than private in Tweet privacy settings

Twitter recommends that the photo you choose to go with should be an accurate one of yourself. If you are verifying a company or corporation, use the company's branding or logo for the profile and/or header photo.

Use your real or stage name if you are verifying an account for an individual.

If you are applying on behalf of a company, use the company's official name and an email address associated with the company or corporation.

You may also be asked for some additional information as well such as why you deserve to have your account verified

After you have submitted the application, Twitter will verify all the details and if they find everything in order, an email will be sent to you informing you about the verification.

Twitter will now allow anyone to apply for a verified account on their platform using a simple online form. However, the company does note that it will only approve "account types maintained by users in music, acting, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business and other key interest areas."

Still, the process to try and get your account verified and claim one of those little blue ticks does seem to be much more straightforward than before.

Benefits of Verified Accounts –

The verified accounts have extra security filters as well as a timeline of all the interaction they have had with the other verified accounts. They can also filter out certain content with the help of Twitter's algorithm.

Gives identity on twitter and proves its real you and not a fake twitter account.

Verified accounts on Twitter allow people to identify key individuals and organizations on Twitter as authentic, and are denoted by a blue badge icon. An account may be verified if it is determined to be of public interest. Typically, this includes accounts maintained by public figures and organizations in music, TV, film, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other key interest areas.
