Following is a list of what will be cheaper

a)    LED/LCD TVs especially below 19 inch, CRT television
b)Footwear priced between Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 per pair
c) Soaps
d)E-book readers
e)Desktop, laptops and tablets
f)RO based water purifiers
g) LED Lights, fixtures and lamps
h)Pre forms of precious and semi-precious stones
i) Sports Gloves
j) Branded petrol
k)Matchbox
l) Life micro insurance policies
m)HIV/AIDS drugs and diagnostic kits
n)DDT insecticides

Following is a list of what will be costlier, expensive

a) Cigarettes
b)Aerated drinks with sugar
c) Pan masala
d)Gutka and chewing tobacco
e)  Jarda scented tobacco
f) Radio Taxi
g)Imported electronic products
h)Portable X-ray machines
i) Half cut/broken diamonds

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley proposed raising the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) cap from 26 per cent to 49 per cent.
The composite cap of the insurance sector is proposed to be increased to 49 per cent from the current level of 26 per cent with full management and control through the FIPB route

Defense –
The government allocated Rs 2.29 lakh crore for the Defence Ministry in the Budget
It raised the FDI limit in the defence sector up to 49 per cent from 26 per cent now.
For the modernization of the armed forces, the Finance Minister allocated an additional Rs 5,000 crore above the Rs 89587.95 crore provided for the acquisition of new weapon systems for the Ministry in the interim budget last year.
Rs 1,000 crore for accelerating the development of railway system in border areas
Rs 1,000 crore for one rank one pension
Rs 1,000 crore for modernization of border infrastructure.
Rs.100 crore for construction of a War Memorial and museum at the Prince’s Park near the India Gate

Tax Exemption Limit Raised –
Tax exemption limit to Rs 2.5 lakh from Rs 2 lakh
Tax exemption limit from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh in the case of senior citizens.
Investment limit under 80 C has been raised to Rs 1.5 lakh from the existing Rs 1 lakh to encourage savings.
Limit Increased -Public Provident Fund up to Rs 1.5 lakh from Rs. 1 Lakh

Raised tax deduction limit on account of interest of housing loan in case of self occupied property to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 1.5 lakh.

Promised a sports fund of Rs 200 crore for J&K
Rs 500 crore for Kashmiri immigrants and their rehabilitation.

Out of Rs 37,000 crore fund for highways, he has allocated Rs 3,000 crore in the Northeast.
Rs 100 crore was provided for organic farming development in the Northeast.
A fund of Rs 10,000 crore was separated to build railways in the Northeast.

Rs 4,000 crore for National Housing Bank to provide low cost housing in developing urban centres.

Rs 26,000 crore set aside for toilets and drinking water in all girls' school.

Farmers will get 3% interest relief for paying on time.

Rs 5,000 crore to build irrigation and infrastructure

Rs 500 crore for price stabilization

Rs 500 crore for - 4 more AIIMS in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Vidharbha, Purvanchal

12 more medical colleges in government hospitals.

It was good to see the prices reduced and prices increases sections. It's good that they are specifically encouraging organic farming and solar plants. This budget looks good at a glance, will wait for detailed implications for each segment.
