Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar becomes Rajya Sabha Member  


President Approves Sachin Tendulkar as Rajya Sabha Member Upper House Member

Congress party made Sachin Tendulkar as Rajya Sabha MP.
The Congress had offered to nominate Tendulkar under the President's quota.



Constitution  allows the President to nominate 12 members to the Upper House.
Article 80 of the Constitution provides for nomination of persons having special knowledge or practical experience in matters such as literature, science, art and social service.

Sachin Tendulkar accepted the Rajya Sabha nomination proposed by the Congress.
Tendulkar along with his wife Anjali met Congress President Sonia Gandhi at her 10 Janpath residence in New Delhi.
President Pratibha Patil has approved the Rajya Sabha nomination recommendation for cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
Now Sachin Tendulkar has become the first cricketer to become the Rajya Sabha member, upper house member.

The President has also approved the recommendations for Rekha and Agha.

The Home Ministry on Friday issued a notification formally nominating master batsman Sachin Tendulkar, actress Rekha and industrialist Anu Aga as members of Rajya Sabha.
