Last few years Ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan has been ill due to a serious lung condition.
Yesterday he collapsed due to respiratory problems then Ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan was put on a ventilator at a private clinic in Pakistan's Sindh's provincial capital Karachi.
Hassan's son, Asif Mehdi said that He is still in the ICU and doctors are looking after him round the clock. All we can do now is pray for him and hope Allah gives him life,"
Asif said the doctors after analyzing his condition put the ailing singer on a ventilator. They conducted Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans and blood tests of the veteran singer.
He said that He wanted to visit India, his birth country, and we were supposed to be there last year but his condition never improved. Now the doctors have strictly said no to any journey,"
He said that his father had been in very poor health for the last two years and the family had been feeding him through the tube because of his illness and for the past one month, he has even lost his voice.
Because of lack of funds, money the family has appealed to Pakistan Government to help them for the treatment of Mehdi Hassan. He will need Rs.45 Lakh for the treatment.
Mehdi Hassan born in India
Birth date - July 18, 1927
Birth Place - Luna, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.
His family migrated to Pakistan during Partition.
He received the Saigal Award in Jalandhar, India, in 1979, whereas the Gorkha Dakshina Bahu Award was given to him in Nepal in 1983.

पिछले दिनों यहाँ मुंबई में नेशनल सेंटर परफोर्मिंग आर्ट्स में तलत अज़ीज़ साहब ने एक विशेष कार्यक्रम प्रस्तुत किया -ए ट्रिब्यूट टू मेहदी हसन-स्मृति स्वरूप विशेष सम्मान -तब हमने पूछा था ऐसा क्यों ?हसन साहब तो अभी हमारे बीच हैं .मेहदी हसन के साथ तलत साहब रहें हैं और वास्तव में आपने उनकी प्रस्तुतियों को सजीव किया सभी गीत ग़ज़ल उनके गाए गुनगुनाए सभा ने भी साथ साथ .जाते तो सभी हैं लेकिन हर कोई अपने निशाँ छोड़ के नहीं जाता .उनकी भौतिक आवाज़ गई लेकिन मेरे आपके दिलों में उनकी रूहानी आवाज़ आइन्दा के लिए ज़िंदा है .मोहब्बत करने वाले कम न होंगें तेरी महफ़िल में लेकिन हम न होंगें .....अल्लाह उन्हें सुकून दे आखिरी सांस तक .ग़ज़ल के इस बे -ताज बादशाह को सलाम यही त्रासदी है हमारे दौर की इलाज़ भी मयस्सर नहीं है कला को . गत वर्ष लता जी ने उन्हें आने के लिए कहा था यहाँ इलाज़ करवाने की पेशकश भी की थी .होइए वही जो राम रची राखा ....
