CWG Scam - Still No Summons received by Swiss Timing Company in trial case

CWG Scam - Still No Summons received by Swiss Timing Company in trial case

Commonwealth Games scam and corruption happened in the Year 2010
Hope you remember it.

Swiss Timing is a company which is an accused in a Commonwealth Games corruption case for allegedly getting a contract illegally and causing loss to Indian citizens.

Wednesday

Swiss Timing Company filed an application in the Delhi High Court
Demanding to stop or stay the proceedings against the company or requested to court not to take action against the company for not appearing in the Court.

Justice Mukta Gupta refused to give any relief to the Switzerland-based firm and said: 'There cannot be a stay on the court proceedings.'

The Swiss firm approached the high court alleging that it had not been served with the summons as per the law dealing offshore companies; as a result, it could not appear in the trial court.

The court also asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file a status report giving details of action taken in within two weeks.

The CBI earlier said that it had served summons to Swiss Timing under the norms of treaty between the two countries.

Advocate Amit Desai, appearing for the Swiss firm, submitted before the court that
Till date the investigating agency had not been able to establish that summons were served on the company and there is no proof in this regard and it (CBI) misled the lower court on the issue

The next date of the case is January 30, 2012.

CBI should be served a contempt of court and should pay heavy fine if the fact is established that CBI did not take summoning of Swiss company seriously.
