Subsidy for Rich Rs 4.6 lakh crore and for Poor Rs 1.54 lakh crore
Still they want to cancel subsidy of cooking gas

Now and then we listen politicians say that we need to cancel the subsidy we do not have money for the subsidty.

They never cancel the subsidy of rich corporations and rich people.

Last year government of India gave revenue of Rs 4.6 lakh crore on account of
Various tax exemptions, on the other hand government only spent Rs 1.54 lakh crore
On subsidy to poor population of India.

Rich Corporations besides this got other type of freebies that together accounted for Rs 88,000 crore.

Poor People subsidy division –

1. Rs 6o,600 crore spent on food

2. Rs 55,000 crore on fertilizer

3. Rs 38,000 crore on petroleum, kerosene and LPG

Government is planning to reduce the above subsidies saying that government does not have money.

On the other hand the exemptions to the rich have been going up every year. It was
Rs 4.20 lakh crore in 2008-09 and raised to Rs 4.37 lakh crore the next year, which further went up to Rs 4.6o lakh crore in 2010- 11.

Rich Corporations and their rich owners do not need to commit suicide to get the subsidy.
Rich corporations get the benefits directly.

On the other hand poor farmers commit suicides then when government gets time they discuss it how to help farmers or poor Indians in mean time farmers all over India keep committing suicide then after few months government gives them subsidy because of fear of losing votes.

Why do not India have a system where poor Indians can also enjoy direct subsidy and get direct cash cards using which they can eat good food and thus no poor will commit suicide to get the attention of government.

So next time if any politician tells you he is canceling subsidy for petrol or cooking gas you should know that those politicians work for the rich people and not for the poor people.

Tell such politicians cancel the subsidy of rich people and then cancel his subsidy on cooking gas.

We want equality.

Agree completely. Very strong post.
If only these politicians worked towards the good of the 'lower-rung' people and helped them rise above to at least be able to receive the basic needs, things would perhaps be close to perfect.
Unfortunately this remains an idealistic hypothetical situation.

Unfortunately, the reality is so sickening that the rich people are getting richer and no one is taking any responsibility to lend a helping hand for the poor :( It's so sad!!!!
